Disney's Streaming Service Launches Today—Here's What We Know

If you love queuing up Disney movies on Netflix, plan your next marathon as soon as possible because most Disney movies will be leaving Netflix in 2019. Disney is launching its own streaming service, Disney+, and it's available as of today. The streaming service isn’t limited to classic Disney films, which may give consumers more incentive to subscribe. The Disney+ site advertises Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, and National Geographic brands, and you can subscribe to get updates so you don't miss out on any of the details.

In 2016, Disney entered into a contract with Netflix that allowed Netflix to stream titles like Finding Dory, Moana, and Beauty and the Beast. You can still watch most of these Disney movies on Netflix, but they’ll all be removed by the end of 2019. The site What’s on Netflix published a full list of all Disney movies that will be removed, along with their removal dates so if you're a Netflix subscriber, make sure to re-watch them before they’re gone.

And while the service is about half the price of Netflix, Verizon announced in October that some of their customers will now be getting Disney+ for free. New and existing Verizon phone plan customers will get 12 months of free membership, and many Verizon internet subscribers will also be able to take advantage of the deal.

For those who aren't Verizon customers, the monthly service will be $6.99 a month (compared to $13 a month for Netflix). You can also sign up for a free 7-day trial to test out the service for a week. For even more savings, Disney+ also offers a bundle with ESPN+ and Hulu: Get all three services for just $12.99 a month.

These are some of the shows and movies coming to Disney + that we're most excited to watch. For more details or to sign up, visit the Disney+ site.
