Disneyland's Oogie Boogie Bash is Srsly the Ultimate Halloween Party for the Whole Family

Disneyland knows how to do a holiday. They don’t just celebrate on the actual day; they turn that 24 hours into weeks of fun. One of the most thrilling times to visit Disneyland and Disney California Adventure is during the oh-so-festive Halloween Time. Beginning September 6, the parks become haunted with family-friendly hijinks from Minnie and Mickey in adorable costumes to Halloween-themed attraction takeovers to, of course, specialty churros (hells yeah!).

This year Disneyland is kicking things up a notch with the debut of their new frightfully fun event – the Oogie Boogie Bash: A Disney Halloween Party. And yes, it's a really great excuse to tear yourself away from Star Wars: A Galaxy's Edge. This special after-hours event, which required a separate ticket, will take place on select evening from September 17 to October 31. There will be spooky décor, character meet-and-greets, and guests all dolled up in their own eye-catching costumes. The best thing about this event? There's seriously something for the entire family, from the littles to tough-to-please teens to mom and dad. It's very much worth the $110 to $145 ticket price.

Here’s a taste of the mischief and magic taking over the Disney California Adventure hosted by the one and only Oogie Boogie (from Tim Burton The Nightmare Before Christmas fame). Warning: Tickets will sell out quick, so if you want to party it up in villainous style, grab them soon.

Enjoy the Frightfully Fun Parade. The Headless Horseman of Sleepy Hollow ushers in Minnie, Mickey, and the gang wearing their Halloween best along with a meandering cavalcade of mischievous Disney villains during the beloved Frightfully Fun Parade. New to the parade this year is the curious Cheshire Cat from Alice in Wonderland. (Photo via Disneyland Resort)

Hit up the immersive treat trials. Throughout the park, there will be a variety of opportunities to collect candy, lots and lots of candy. This is heaven for a kid (or grownup) with a sweet tooth! It’s like regular old trick or treating but with goodies from Disney rather than total strangers. Each of the trials are themed to infamous Disney villains like Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty to the party host Oogie Boogie and yes, plenty of treats.

Venture to see Villainous. World of Color gets a makeover thanks to Oogie Boogie. This new spook-filled incarnation of the popular water extravaganza stars a brand-new Disney character named Shelley Marie (a play on Mary Shelley, the author of Frankenstein). Young Shelley adores villains like Ursula, Jafar, Maleficent and the show incorporates her love for these sinister characters in a song and fun-filled way. This new show is exclusive to the Oogie Boogie bash. (Photo via Joshua Sudock/Disneyland Resort)

Forget the tricks, indulge in all the treats. During Halloween Time, Disneyland's treats go off! As pasty chef Gracie Gomez aptly stated, "our churro game is really strong right now." At the Cozy Cone in Cars Land, you can feast on this specialty churro rolled in crumbled chocolate crème cookies, green icing, gummy worms, and candies. (Photo via David Nguyen/Disneyland Resort)

There's also gorgeously ghoulish candied apples, sweet potato hand pies, funnel cake fries doused in candy, quirky cupcakes, and the Minnie Mouse mint milk shake (above) among many MANY other sweet offerings. (Photo via David Nguyen/Disneyland Resort)

Pick up specialty merch during Halloween Time. It's pretty much impossible to visit Disneyland without grabbing a souvenir (or two, or even three). Our personal favorites are Minnie Mouse ears and these sparkly Oogie Boogie ones, which are perfect for the season. (Photo via Joshua Sudock/Disneyland Resort)

Entertainment for kids, teens, and tweens. Older kids who can’t get enough of Disney’s Descendants series will love DescenDance, an immersive show that evolves into a raucous dance party. Kids will learn new steps from the Descendants-inspired dance crew, perfect timing with the release of the newest installment Descendants 3. Little ones will be thoroughly entertained at this brand-new Mickey’s Trick & Treat show featuring songs, scary stories, and treats. And really, who can resist the main Disney crew in adorable Halloween costumes? (Photo via Disneyland Resort)
