Disney World Schedules Construction for Cinderella’s Castle

It may be something, it may be nothing.

With Disney World's 50th Anniversary Celebration winding down, it's time for the next big thing.

And what exactly is that, you might ask? Well, here's the thing: we're not exactly sure what it is, we just know that it's happening and that it involves Cinderella's castle.

Inside the Magic, a Disney parks-focused publication, uncovered a new permit filed last week by Coastal Steel Inc., a contractor construction company based out of Lake Buena Vista, for 1400 Magic Kingdom Drive—aka, Cinderella's Castle. Unfortunately, the permit is light on details, labeling the "general description of improvement" as "General Construction."

As such, it's unclear when construction will begin or what it entails, but, based on the expiration date of the permit, it's expected to be completed by March 8, 2024 at the latest.

Inside the Magic posed the theory of obtaining the permit in order to remove the 50th-anniversary decorations, which would just be another step in the process of returning the park to its normal, everyday appearance, but it's not out of the realm of possibility that the park may be ready to make improvements as it enters the second half of its first 100 years, and as the parent company celebrates its first centennial.

After all, Disney also recently announced the closure of Blizzard Beach and the Rock 'n' Roller Coaster for refurbishment, making it highly likely that more attractions will follow suit.

But it's not just the parks getting an update; Disney is also showing off the genius creations from their Imagineers, like this IRL lightsaber they debuted at South By Southwest.
