Missing Stargirl Caraway and hoping to see what happens to her next? Well, Disney+ is making all your dreams come true thanks to the brand new sequel Hollywood Stargirl set to come out this summer.

As The Hollywood Reporter announced back in February 2021, the sequel to Stargirl, Hollywood Stargirl was revealed to be in the works over at the streaming giant with star Grace VanderWaal returning as the titular character.

A quick recap of where we left off since it's been two years since we were last in Mica, Arizona:

At the end of the school dance after Stargirl arranges for Leo to perform his and his father's favorite song, "Just What I Needed" by The Cars, Leo discovers that Stargirl has moved away. The whole school feels the effect of her actions, with students feeling inspired to be kinder and help each other out. Other pupils make up stories about Stargirl, to the point where people wonder if she was even a real person. The last shot is of the school’s trophy case, which is now full of awards, with Stargirl’s trophy resting right in the middle, leaving us with questions about what happened to her and where she went.

What is Hollywood Stargirl about?

While there is a second book in the series called Love, Stargirl, fans should expect to see a brand new story in Hollywood Stargirl that will follow "Stargirl's journey out of Mica and into a bigger world of music, dreams, and possibility," according to Disney.

And while we were always told not to judge a book by its cover, it's safe to say based on the title of the film that Stargirl and her mom (Judy Greer) have moved to California for a new job, trading small town Mica for the sunny hills of Hollywood.

Grace also wrote a brand new song titled "Figure It Out" exclusively for the film, so we know that we'll get to see Stargirl strumming it out on the ukulele once again.

Is there a trailer for Hollywood Stargirl?

On May 2, Walt Disney Studios dropped an almost two-minute trailer for Hollywood Stargirl.

In the clip, we see Stargirl trading in her ukulele, which she used when she sang at the football games for her old high school back in Mica, for acapella vocals that carry the trailer.

We get a glimpse of Stargirl's discontent with moving around a lot while talking to her mother. In the snippet, we also meet Evan (played by Elijah Richardson), who introduces himself as her new neighbor. He also introduces Stargirl to another one of their neighbors, Mr. Mitchell (Judd Hirsch). Evan then offers her a role in a film that he is making with his brother Terrell (Tyrel Jackson Williams).

While spending time with the brothers, Stargirl sees Roxanne Martel (Uma Thurman), a singer who only put out one album before disappearing from the music industry. We then see Stargirl and Roxanne chatting about music, with Roxanne saying that Stargirl needs to write original music rather than just perform other people's songs.

While the trailer gives a small peek at Stargirl's life beyond Mica, we'll have to wait to see how it all unfolds.

Luckily for you, Seventeen has been given an exclusive, behind-the-scenes look at the production of Hollywood Stargirl. The brand new featurette opens with director and co-writer Julia Hart, as well as actress Uma Thurman, discussing the departure from the first film into the sequel.

"I think Stargirl transformed from the first film. She's older, she's smarter, she's getting to know the world," says lead Grace VanderWaal.

See what the cast and crew have to say about the heartwarming continuation of Stargirl's tale and the introduction of new friends along her journey.
