Disney’s secret store that’s just for cast members is blowing TikTok’s mind: ‘OMG I need access’
An employee-exclusive Disney store is making viral waves on TikTok — and has many people considering applying for a job just for the chance to shop there.
TikTok user @disney_pintopia gained over 906,000 views, 94,000 likes, 8,200 saves and 1,000 comments when she uploaded a behind-the-scenes look at the “secret” store.
While we’ve seen Disney secrets go viral in the past — like the shocking reason why Ariel is the only cast member to receive hazard pay, or the things parents say to Disney Princesses when they think no one else is in earshot — this tantalizing look into Disney’s employee-only store has TikTokers in awe.
Located in Walt Disney World, the store, called Cast Connection and Property Control, is renowned for its heavily discounted merch, furniture and even groceries. It also offers cast-exclusive merchandise found only at Cast Connection.
But according to @disney_pintopia, the real draw of Cast Connection is the room full of furnishings deemed “obsolete” by the Disney parks. Here, desks can be purchased for 25 cents, marble nightstands for $25, pre-decorated Christmas garlands for $25 and heavy wooden headboards for $1.
It’s not just furniture that’s tremendously discounted. Cast Connection also boasts its own grocery store, which is full of high-quality foods at very low prices. According to @disney_pintopia, the Disney parks buy a high volume of food for their restaurants, and rather than let any food go to waste, they allow the employees to buy it at a discount.
Cast Connection is also where retired props are stored — but while they’re fun to look at, they’re not actually for sale.
As for items available for purchase, there are some rules around how they can and can’t be used, according to @disney_pintopia.
For instance, employees are only allowed to purchase items for themselves; they cannot be purchased and shipped to others. Additionally, they cannot buy the heavily discounted items with the intent to resell them for profit. Those caught doing so could be terminated, explained @disney_pintopia in a comment.
A cast member herself, @disney_pintopia has been able to snag some shocking deals from Cast Connection over the years.
In a follow-up video, she revealed all the items she was able to purchase for just $1 — such as an Animal Kingdom bed platform, a 7-foot corkboard for her Disney pins and a giant vanity mirror from a resort remodel.
TikTokers were stunned by the behind-the-scenes peek into Cast Connection — and many expressed their jealousy in the comments.
“Someone please take me 🥲” wrote @helenslife007.
“OMG I need access lol!” commented @the407fam.
“I need a friend who works at Disney,” added @danibeth2110.
However, not everyone was impressed with Cast Connection or its discounts.
“🤔 I wonder if this is to offset the low wages employees get paid,” wrote @m1ggiesmalls.
To this, @disney_pintopia replied, “Don’t hate! I don’t think I have ever seen another employer that has such perks :)”
