Disney’s New Polynesian Bungalows
Spacious private accommodations. Over-the-water lodging. Open, expansive views. Sounds like a Tahitian honeymoon? Try again—it’s actually the newest luxury offering to hit Disney World’s Polynesian Village Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.
Achieving spa-like serenity just a monorail ride from the Magic Kingdom was previously unheard of. Now, as part of an ongoing property refurbishment that includes an offshoot of Disneyland Hotel’s famed Trader Sam’s tiki bar, updates to the lobby and pool, and even a return to the hotel’s original name, the Bora Bora Bungalows are the proverbial cherry on top of Pineapple Lanai’s Dole Whip float.

The brand-new, two-bedroom properties sleep up to eight guests, come equipped with a washer and dryer, and even have a full kitchen and dining room for post-park entertaining. Marked by modern decór with tropical influences, the waterfront rooms also come with an unobstructed view of fireworks over Cinderella’s Castle from their own personal waterfront deck. And, in keeping with the island luxury theme, each of the 20 bungalows come equipped with a private plunge pool.
There’s just one catch: you can’t reserve these 1,650-square-foot properties without first becoming a member of Disney Vacation Club, an in-house timeshare program. Is the investment worth the stay? Not sure, but it’s as close as you’ll ever get to enjoying tropical paradise in the shadow of Space Mountain.
