All The Disney Halloween Movies You Need For Some Kid-Friendly Spooky Scaries
Peering into the proverbial crystal ball, it seems like there are two kinds of people who watch Disney Halloween movies: Those who are too squeamish for regular horror movies full of gore and jump scares, or the nostalgia addicts with a scrunchie at the ready and a secret stash of Zima. Lucky for you, whichever type you are, Disney+ has all the best Halloween movies streaming. There are bonafide classics, hidden gems, and more than a few Disney Channel Original movies hanging out on the list below.
Halloweentown
Let's start with a movie that is, frankly, incredibly underrated. Three kids learn that their mom is a witch from a town full of friendly (and some not-so-friendly) monsters that roam free. And! There are sequels. Enjoy.
Haunted Mansion
This theme park adaptation starring Eddie Murphy is underrated, if you ask me.
Nightmare Before Christmas
Before you ask the question that has haunted millennials for decades: it's both a Christmas movie and a Halloween movie. Why not both? It can definitely be both. It's also creepy as hell!
Girl vs. Monster
This DCOM is all about a girl who isn't afraid of anything, until she finds out her parents are monster hunters. It's like Spy Kids, but with ghouls and stuff.
The Scream Team
Ian and Claire (played by Kat Dennings, NBD) encounter a ton of ghosts when they go back to their grandpa's home town for his funeral, and they end up forming a squad that protects ghosts who aren't ready to cross over into the afterlife. Very cute for a throwback DCOM.
Twitches (and Twitches Too)
Tia and Tamera Mowry!! This movie is about magical sisters born in another dimension on Halloween and separated at birth, only to discover that they can defeat evil by working together. Don't mind if I do.
Don’t Look Under The Bed
This DCOM is about the literal bogeyman. Yep!
Phantom of the Megaplex
Why yes, this is an extremely cheesy '90s adaptation of The Phantom of the Opera, and it's GREAT.
Mom’s Got A Date With A Vampire
The title says it all! This movie was one of the OG "dating a vampire" stories, beating out Twilight and True Blood.
Z-O-M-B-I-E-S
Of course there's a Disney movie about zombies who are high school outcasts. Of course the main character, a zombie, wants to be on the football team and also has a big musical number. Of course there's a sequel that's also on Disney+.
Frankenweenie
If you love Nightmare Before Christmas but haven't seen Tim Burton's other Halloween-themed animated movie about a dog that gets brought back to life... get on it!
Hocus Pocus
Last but not least. We'll never forget you, Thackery Binx. You're a real one.
