Disney Debuted the Trailer for "The Lion King" Live-Action Movie

I am sobbing.

Prepare to get all of the goosebumps, because the first official trailer for The Lion King live-action movie has arrived, and it is epic.

The film, which was first announced back in April 2017, doesn't hit theaters until July 19, 2019, but this trailer might be just enough to hold fans over. In the one-minute clip, we're transported back to the movie's African savanna setting, only this time, everything has come to life. As pointed out by Variety, the film's realistic setting will reportedly be created with a combination of live-action and CGI.

The trailer does a shot-for-shot reimagination of the original animated opening, complete with a most adorable Simba and a brief appearance from Rafiki. The trailer opens with a shot of birds flying overhead and animals grazing in a field. Then, a voice that Lion King fans may already recognize comes through, and James Earl Jones (who will reprise his Mufusa role) utters a familiar line: "Everything the light touches is our kingdom." Yes, I am crying with excitement, too.

Directed by Jon Favreau, who was also responsible for Disney's live-action The Jungle Book remake, The Lion King features an all-star cast. Beyoncé Knowles confirmed her role as Nala last year, joining a previously announced cast that includes Donald Glover as Simba; Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar; Alfre Woodard as Sarabi; John Oliver as Zazu; John Kani as Rafiki; Seth Rogen as Pumbaa, Billy Eichner as Timon; Eric Andre as Azizi; Florence Kasuma as Shenzi; Keegan-Michael Key as Kamari; JD McCrary as Young Simba; and Shahadi Wright Joseph as Young Nala.

Based on the reaction from social media, it's clear that fans are definitely excited. One Twitter user contemplated what would come next, writing, "What am i supposed to do with my life until that lion king drops?" Others have already prepped to purchase tickets, writing, "Lion King is a straight up masterpiece. Just take all my money" and "Disney can take my money right now for that new Lion King movie I will tell you that right now. I’m in there."

Is it July yet?!
