Disney Cruises are Returning to New Orleans

Grab your mouse ears and your Dramamine and laissez-les bon temps rouler, because Disney Cruises are returning to New Orleans.

After the inaugural season of Disney Cruises setting sail from the Crescent City quickly filled up with would-be mouseketeers, Disney has announced that they are returning for another season of cruising from New Orleans starting in 2021.

Setting sail from New Orleans means that travelers can get two vacations in one. Start the adventure wandering the streets of the Garden District, ogling iron balconies in the French Quarter, antiquing on Royal Street, downing beignets, and hunting for the best muffuletta.

Then hop aboard the Disney Cruise and set sail for the Caribbean or Mexico or the Panama Canal. Some itineraries include stops at the company's island, Castaway Cay, while others set their anchors near Progreso, Mexico, a new destination for Disney, that promises everything from Mayan ruins to idyllic local swimming holes.

While the destinations are always delightful, getting there is more than half the fun thanks to ships filled with live shows, your favorite Disney characters, pools with water slides, spas, deck parties, and clubs for kids and clubs for adults. Plus, the food is always incredible. If you want to continue your New Orleans adventures onboard, head to Tiana’s Place a Princess and the Frog-inspired restaurant full of Southern charm and food.

While it may be hard to imagine planning a vacation for 2021 when you can scarcely organize brunch on Sunday, Disney opened registration for the NOLA trips on October 3, 2019 and there’s little doubt that people have already started booking. If you can’t wait that long, try to snag a cabin in spring 2020, when the first Disney cruises set sail out of Louisiana
