The Happiest Place On Earth is about to have a whole new area for you to explore, Disney has officially confirmed. By 2022, the shoreline of Bay Lake-between Disney's Wilderness Lodge and Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground-will be the new home of a "nature-inspired, mixed-use Disney resort."

Though exciting enough alone, this project is one of three underway. Collectively, they will bring a total of 1,700 new hotel rooms and Disney Vacation Club villas to Walt Disney World Resort over the next four years. This resort in particular, though, is really something special.

Themed to complement the area's natural surroundings, it will have more than 900 of the 1,700 rooms to come, along with various proposed Disney Vacation Club villas. Together, these projects mark the most significant expansion for the resort over the last twenty years, Walt Disney World Resort President George A. Kalogridis says.

While there isn't much other info available about it yet (including a name...any guesses?), it's expected to be Disney's 16th Disney Vacation Club property. According to Terry Schultz, Senior VP and GM of Disney Vacation Club, "This resort experience will be a celebration of Walt Disney's lifelong love and respect for nature, with some fun and even surprising accommodation types that families will find irresistible."
