If you’ve ever wanted to live immersed in Disney magic, then you’re in luck. Disney announced plans for a new residential community in North Carolina located near Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill, the company said in a press release shared with Travel + Leisure.

Named Asteria, to pay homage to the native North Carolina aster flower, the project is in the early stages with sales anticipated to begin by 2027.

“Inspired by the spirit of discovery, the Asteria community is being designed to encourage exploration, spark life-long learning, and create new connections for future residents,” Disney Parks shared in a blog post.

This is the second announced Storyliving By Disney, “thoughtfully designed” master-planned residential communities that “take inspiration from the region’s authentic history and landscape” and infuse the company’s “special brand of magic.” The first, Cotino, is currently underway just outside of Palm Springs, California.

"The announcement of the Asteria community builds upon strong initial interest for our first Storyliving by Disney community in California and will expand Disney-branded communities to the East Coast," Claire Bilby, senior vice president and general manager of Disney Signature Experiences Emerging Businesses, said in a statement.

Asteria will be located in Pittsboro, North Carolina, an ideal town offering “access to metropolitan amenities with the charm of a small town.” Encompassing 1,500 acres, the plans call for more than 4,000 residential units which will include multi-family homes, single-family homes, and homes specifically for adults 55 and older across its rich landscape. The development will be part of the larger Chatham Park, an award-winning master-planned community.

With “distinctive Disney placemaking,” varying home styles will be mixed with community amenities that draw on the area’s natural beauty. ”Aligning with Chatham Park's commitment to open green space and to encourage exploration, the community will feature acres of neighborhood parks and miles of beautiful walking and biking trails where residents can connect with the outdoors,” Disney shared in the release. Many of the spaces will blur the line between indoor and outdoor living.

Future residents can expect a sense of community that’s facilitated with “charming gathering spots,” including a standout list of on-site amenities like swimming pools, a community garden, sport courts, a wellness and recreation center, a restaurant, and outdoor spaces for events and games. And there will be plenty of distinctly Disney touches, like lessons with Disney artists, family fun days, and storytelling dinners inspired by Disney tales. At the center, will be the company’s trademark attention to detail and renowned customer service delivered by its Cast Members.

Disney fans itching to live within the magic can currently reside in Golden Oak, a development of luxury residential homes located within the gates of Walt Disney World in Florida.
