Discontinued Snickers Flavors We Want Back

When hunger strikes, so does nostalgia.

In 1930, Snickers entered the world, satisfying candy-bar lovers ever since. Packed with peanuts, nougat, and caramel and surrounded by milk chocolate, the OG Snickers bar is close to perfect in its original form. But, like most snack brands, Snickers releases new flavors from time to time to grab our attention. Its most recent iteration adds butterscotch to the mix. The Snickers Butterscotch Scoop is a limited-edition version of the candy, available only at Walmart.

Snickers is making the candy bar available for a limited time only, which got us thinking. What other here-then-gone Snickers flavors would we like to see back on store shelves? There have been many, but these top our list.

Snickers Cinnamon Bun

Maybe not since someone holding an open peanut butter jar bumped into someone else holding a chocolate bar (Remember those old Reese’s Cup commercials?) have two flavors worked so well together.

The Snickers Cinnamon Bun had crunchy peanuts, buttery caramel, and cinnamon bun-flavored nougat, all covered in milk chocolate. With a cinnamon flavor that was subtle but not overlooked, the candy bar was comforting—if you could get your hands on it. Like the new Snickers Butterscotch Scoop, only Walmart carried the Snickers Cinnamon Bun bars for a limited time only.

Snickers Candy Pop Popcorn

What? Snickers popcorn? If you’ve never heard of it, then you’re probably not a member of the wholesale club Sam’s Club. The popcorn was coated with Snickers candy bar pieces, drizzled with Snickers caramel, and dotted with nuts. Each bite-sized piece was a salty-sweet flavor explosion in your mouth.

Sam’s Club introduced the treat in the spring of 2020, but it’s since discontinued the popcorn-Snickers mashup. We want it back, though, preferably in time for fall’s chilly weather when we choose to stay in and watch movies on the couch.

Snickers Hazelnut

Perhaps Snickers was cashing in on the popularity of Ferrero Rocher with this flavor that added hazelnuts to the mix of the candy bar. The hazelnuts shared space with the peanuts, and the two worked well together with the caramel and nougat.

The flavor appeared on shelves in late 2016 but has since disappeared. We’d like them back, please.

Snickers Espresso

A little coffee can enhance the flavor of chocolate, and in 2018 Snickers introduced the Snickers Espresso along with two other flavors—Fiery and Salty & Sweet—as limited time offerings. The Espresso was a favorite, in part because of the one-word question “Irritable?” that replaced Snickers on the packaging (kudos to the marketing team).

But we also liked it because the candy bar had a richness that the original Snickers doesn’t while still unmistakably being a Snickers. Sounds like a great afternoon pick-me-up treat that would be good to have back, doesn’t it?

Snickers Rockin' Nut Road

Reminiscent of the flavors of rocky road ice cream, the Snickers Rockin’ Nut Road flavor left shelves in 2017 and returned earlier this year. It’s still available in stores, but the flavor is no longer on the brand’s website, leaving us to think that its time is limited. With roasted almonds, marshmallow-flavored nougat, and caramel all wrapped up in dark chocolate, we’re saying, “We want it back!” perhaps a little sooner than we have to. But that’s how much we love this flavor.
