The second season of Dirty John is getting two brand-new stars, so prepare for even more gut-churning drama.
USA network just confirmed that Amanda Peet (Something’s Gotta Give) and Christian Slater (Mr. Robot) will star in the upcoming season of the anthology series, titled Dirty John: The Betty Broderick Story.
The show will tell the real-life story of Betty Broderick, a housewife who became infamous in 1989 after killing her ex-husband and his new wife. The homicide came after nearly two decades of divorce proceedings.
Peet will play the titular character, while Slater will portray the ill-fated husband. Dun dun dun.
According to series creator Alexandra Cunningham, Broderick’s story is the perfect follow-up to season one, which followed a mom named Debra Newell.
“The first season of Dirty John was a story of twisted love and coercive control and both these insidious elements are also present in and integral to the story of Betty Broderick, whom I have wanted to write about since I became a writer,” she said, according to PopSugar. “I can’t wait to see Amanda and Christian bring it to life.”
The Dirty John series was based on the namesake podcast by Wondery. It starred Connie Britton and Eric Bana.
If season two is anything like the first one, we’ll definitely be tuning in.
