The Diplomat viewers are praising Keri Russell in new Netflix series

Netflix really appears to be in its thriller era, with recent series The Night Agent, Rough Diamonds and Who Were We Running From taking up our full attention and we so here for it. And their latest release The Diplomat, has got us fully obsessed.

The Diplomat is an eight-part series starring Keri Russel as a US diplomat to the UK. She's brought in to handle several international crises, all whilst her superiors back in Washington are planning for her to take over the Vice President role. It's full of political intrigue, secret romances and a lot of hilarious moments.

Whilst fans have been loving the whole cast which features Rufus Sewell as Hal Wyler Kate's husband, David Gyasi as Foreign Secretary Austin Dennison, Ali Ahn as CIA Station Chief Eidra Park, Ato Essandoh as Deputy Chief of Mission Stuart Heyford and Rory Kinnear as Prime Minister Trowbridge, viewers can't get enough of Keri Russell's performance as Kate Wyler in particular.

Throughout the series Kate is dynamic, witty and although she doesn't always have things 100 per cent under control, we reckon she would definitely be a good Vice President. And viewers seem to agree too.

Many fans of Keri Russell have taken to social media to heap praise on her performance calling it "brilliant" and "amazing".

One person tweeted: "Keri Russell is brilliant in The Diplomat on Netflix. Give her more seasons and parts, please."

Another said: "The Diplomat on @netflix is genius. The writing. The acting. Kerri Russell is brilliant as always."

And another said: "I'm not officially reviewing #TheDiplomat but I can confirm it's a riveting & often funny political drama. lots of twists, intrigue, & a complex marriage. it's all held together by a stellar Keri Russell performance. also: Ato Essandoh is such a talent!!"

Many viewers were also commenting saying how great it was to see Keri back on their screens again. Fans of Keri originally know her from her performances in Felicity, for which she won a Golden Globe for and spy drama The Americans.

The Diplomat is Keri's first leading TV role since The Americans finished in 2018 and she's been working on The Diplomat since receiving the scripts in 2021.

We think we can definitely speak for fans of The Diplomat when we say we're so glad Keri is back. The series just wouldn't be the same without her.
