Adventurous eaters, it's time to head to the Philippines. Specifically to Villa Escudero Resort where you can kick off your shoes and feast at the base of Labasin Falls (an artificial waterfall made by runoff from the Philippines' first hydroelectric plant) as it cascades in front of you.

The Waterfall Restaurant isn't just overlooking the breathtaking scenery, though: Restaurant-goers are actually in the water that pools at the waterfall's base. So when I said "kick off your shoes," I meant it literally. This barefoot (yes, there is a no-shoes policy) restaurant in San Pablo City allows customers to sit waterfall-side in a shallow river filled with bamboo picnic tables.

Atlas Obscura points out that diners experience "a kamayan-style buffet of fish, rice, barbecued chicken and bananas (locally known as "banana cue"), fresh fruit, and more, all spread across banana leaves." According to the Atlas, a Filipino Kamayan feast features lavish spreads eaten without utensils.

In case you're too dry for your liking post-meal, visitors can later submerge themselves in the waterfall to get the experience of swimming under natural falls. Of course, experiencing this buffet style lunch is incredibly weather-dependent since eating outdoors with your feet in the water can be tricky if it's storming.

While you're at the resort eating, you could also immerse yourself in the other activities they have by booking a day tour package so you can experience all of the resort's amenities, including the country's largest museum, the Escudero Private Museum, bamboo rafting, the Philippine Experience Show with traditional dancing and music, and the swimming pools (P.S. there's even an adults only pool).
