Dignity Drive At AGE Of Central Texas

AGE of Central Texas helps older adults and family care givers thrive as they navigate the realities and opportunities of aging and caregiving. CEO Suzanne Anderson joined Studio 512 to talk about the organization and how folks can help.

“AGE’s Health Equipment Lending program provides free durable medical equipment and incontinence supplies to low income older adults in need. The individuals who often have to choose between food, medications, and the hygiene supplies they need. We strive to relieve those individuals of that burden by providing the incontinence supplies and equipment they need for free.

“Our upcoming Dignity Drive is a community-wide effort to collect the adult pull-ups we need to support low income older adults who rely on AGE’s Health Equipment Lending Program for a free monthly supply of incontinence products. It’s aimed at helping to restore dignity to folks affected by incontinence.

“The HELP program in 2023 provided over 3,000 pieces of equipment and incontinence products to over 1,000 individuals. We expect that number to grow this year, so we need help from the community to ensure we don’t have to turn anyone in need away.

“We are looking to our caring Central Texas community to help us reach our goal of collecting 10,000 adult pull-ups. You can help in several different ways:

  1. Bring a pack of adult pull-ups without tabs to one of 8 drop off locations. You can see a list of those locations on the AGE website.

  2. Donate $25 to be used to purchase a pack of adult pull-ups.

  3. Make a contribution of any amount to support the Health Equipment Lending program with a contribution that will be used to provide free durable medical equipment and incontinence products year round.”
