Are Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik Still Together? Here's What We Know

Like many of our favorite celebrity couples, Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik love to toy with our emotions. One day they're going strong and the next, it's over. And then, just when we give up on them...they're back together! It's been going on like this for years, but now the two share a baby, Khai, together as well. In case you want to relive all of the on-again-off-again madness, though, here's a full breakdown of Gigi and Zayn's relationship:

October 28, 2021:

People reported that Gigi and Zayn broke up after allegations that Zayn allegedly "struck" Gigi's mom, Yolanda. The former One Direction member released a statement in response to the allegations on Twitter.

"In an effort to protect that space for [my daughter, Khai] I agreed to not contest claims arising from an argument I had with a family member of my partner's who entered our home while my partner was away several weeks ago," he wrote.

Throughout the message, he refers to being Khai's "co-parent," which led some to believe that the couple may have called it quits. Gigi's reps also gave an exclusive statement to E! News following the allegations. "Gigi is solely focused on the best for Khai. She asks for privacy during this time," her rep told the outlet.

Multiple sources confirmed that the couple called it quits in a report by People. "They are not together right now. They are both good parents though," a Hadid family friend told People. "They co-parent. Yolanda is of course very protective of Gigi. She wants the best for her daughter and grandchild."

January 12, 2020:

Gigi Hadid really went all out for Zayn Malik's 28th birthday. The model threw an arcade-themed bash for her bae and even wrote the sweetest message about him on Instagram.

"Team No Sleep! Happiest birthday to our Zaddy baba," Gigi wrote in a post featuring a sweet pic with Zayn. "So special. Love you long time, thank you for makin me a mamma to the best girl ever ☺️ Wish you the best every single day."

But the big reveal that Gigi calls Zayn "Zaddy" wasn't the only surprise of the day. Gigi through Zaddy the coolest looking party, complete with arcade games, balloons galore, and even Zayn confetti.

It's cool, I'll just assume my invite to "Z-Day," got lost in the mail...

September 23, 2020:

Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik are officially parents to a healthy baby girl! The couple announced the news on social media following the birth of their first child.

"Our baby girl is here, healthy & beautiful," Zayn tweeted along with a photo of him holding his daughter's hand. "To try put into words how I am feeling right now would be an impossible task. The love I feel for this tiny human is beyond my understanding. Grateful to know her, proud to call her mine, & thankful for the life we will have together."

Gigi also shared an announcement with a similar photo and the caption, "Our girl joined us earth-side this weekend and she’s already changed our world. So in love."

July 6, 2020:

Zayn and Gigi have been busy getting ready for the birth of their baby girl this September and it's not surprising that the preparation has brought the couple "closer than ever," according to Us Weekly.

Apparently, both Gigi and Zayn have been spending the past few months at Gigi's mom's farm and while she recently went back to NYC for a quick trip, she plans to wait out the remainder of her pregnancy with her family and Zayn on the farm, according to Us' source.

The source also said that Gigi has "always wanted to start a family with Zayn" and the pair is "so in love."

May 6, 2020:

Just a week after confirming the baby news, Zayn and Gigi are now sparking engagement rumors thanks to Zayn's newest tattoo. The singer showed off his ink while revealing his new matching evil eye bracelet with Gigi, and fans noticed that it includes lines from the poem "On Marriage" by Kahlil Gibran.

Zayn has shared the poem on his Instagram story before, so we know he's a fan. Of course, the name and the subject of the poem, which is about love and marriage, got fans thinking and wondering if this means the soon-to-be parents are about to take the next step and get engaged.

It would make sense, considering the timing and the circumstances, so we will just have to wait and see what's next in this love story.

May 4, 2020:

Gigi Hadid, her mom Yolanda Hadid, and even Gigi's brother's girlfriend, Dua Lipa, have all expressed how excited they are about Gigi's pregnancy, but one person who hasn't made a public comment about the news is the dad-to-be, Zayn Malik.

Despite that, the singer apparently "couldn't be more thrilled" to be starting a family with Gigi. According to Us Weekly, "Zayn has always been so into Gigi and she’s always been such a big part of his life."

The couple hasn't always had the easiest time, breaking up more than once over their years together, but apparently "even when there were times that they weren’t a couple, the love was still very much there."

Now, though, the couple is reportedly "solid," which is good to know because with a baby on the way, things are about to get real serious, real fast.

April 28, 2020:

Gigi and Zayn Malik are reportedly STARTING A FAMILY TOGETHER. Yup, you read that right. According to Entertainment Tonight, Gigi is pregnant with her first child with Zayn.

"Gigi and Zayn are expecting their first child together and the couple is very excited," the source said. "Gigi has kept the secret close to her family and friends for a while as she’s only a few months along. Once Gigi and Zayn got back together at the end of last year, it was like they never skipped a beat and knew what they had was special. The couple and their families are overjoyed."

TMZ also reported the story and is saying that Gigi is 20 weeks along, which means hopefully a gender reveal will be coming very soon.

April 23, 2020:

It seems like Gigi and Zayn are social distancing together right now during the coronavirus pandemic. Gigi posted pics from her 25th birthday celebration on Instagram, writing that she was so happy to spend it with her "quarantine family," and who was there? Zayn, of course!

The model shared a pic with Zayn and her sister holding up some birthday balloons and the three of them seem to be getting along very well, despite the fact that they've probably been living together 24/7 for the past few weeks now.

In another set of pictures, we see more of Gigi's celebration, including a shot of Zayn embracing his girl in the sweetest way.

It seems like after a rocky few months, the pair is going strong again and enjoying their time in quarantine together.

March 23, 2020:

Just like all of us, Gigi seems to be a little bored while currently social distancing in order to stay healthy during the COVID-19 pandemic. So, she took the time to go through her camera roll and posted some throwback pics on Insta. "(Oldie) camera roll finds ! 💛 #stayhome," she captioned the set of various images, including one PDA pic with Zayn that looks to be from around Christmas.

It's unclear if Gigi and Zayn are currently self-quarantining together right now or if they are in their respective homes. As of now, they haven't posted anything together yet, but honestly, I'm hoping for a couple's TikTok ASAP.

February 15, 2020:

Not only are Gigi and Zayn seemingly back together, but they were each other's valentines this year! Gigi shared the exciting news on her second Instagram account, posting a photo of Zayn with the caption, "HEY VALENTINE."

Between this act of public admiration and Gigi's previous Instagram story (see below), we can pretty much say with certainty that the pair has gotten back together for the third time. Hopefully we will start to see more of them together very very soon.

February 9, 2020:

After months of speculation, Gigi seemingly just confirmed that she and Zayn are back together! The model posted a photo on her Instagram story, showing off her bedside table, which features a pic of the pair cuddling.

This comes just a month after the two was spotted out in NYC twice in one weekend, celebrating the birthdays of both Gigi's mom and Zayn. According to reports, Zigi reunited around the holidays and everyone in the Hadid clan is very happy about it.

December 30, 2019:

Zigi seems to be back together once again! Zayn and Gigi haven't 100 percent confirmed that they're dating, but Gigi dropped a major hint that has lead fans to believe things are heading in that direction.

Gigi posted a photo of her cooking on Sunday afternoon, tagging Zayn's mom and mentioning using one of her recipes. "Sunday in the kitchen: about to marinate the chicken for one of my favorites!!! @mammamalik's Chicken Curry Pasta Salad. Hopefully she'll share the recipe with the world one day," she wrote on Instagram.

Well, not only did Zayn's mom repost the photo on her own stories, but she also added a separate post featuring Gigi from an account called @defendzigi where Gigi reveals that her favorite restaurant is "her boyfriend's mom's house."

So basically, Gigi and Zayn are on good terms again and might even be getting back together, especially after recent rumors of their possible reunion. Hopefully, everything works out for these lovebirds this time.

August 22, 2019:

Gigi might have moved on, but Zayn still seems to be hung up on his big split. US Weekly is reporting that Zayn originally bought an apartment in NYC to be close to Gigi, but he's now selling it after she was spotted with Tyler Cameron.

"He has been sad about their breakup and was very sad after their breakup," a source told US Weekly.

While Zayn might still be hung up on his breakup, the source also noted that friends have been supportive in having Gigi move on from Zayn and that Gigi and Zayn weren't good around each other.

"It wasn’t a healthy situation for her," they continued.

Looks like this might be the final nail on the coffin for this couple.

August 6, 2019:

It seems like Gigi has finally moved on from Zayn following their split in January. The model was spotted on back to back dates with Bachelorette alum Tyler Cameron, getting her roped up in a love triangle involving the most recent Bachelorette Hannah Brown after she tried to win Tyler back despite not giving him the final rose.

Anyway, this drama hasn't stopped Gigi and Tyler from hanging twice in two days, but what does her ex, Zayn, think about all this? Last time Gigi was seen out with a guy, Zayn went on a pretty major Twitter rant, writing, "How about you all go f*ck yourself with your irrelevant bullsh*t," and "you aren't the person you said you were." The singer later said the tweets were not about Gigi, calling her "the most amazing woman I've ever known."

This time, though, Zayn has remained silent, so it's unclear how he feels about Gigi's new man. Maybe the two are on better terms these days, and he's OK with her moving on.

May 13, 2019:

Looks like this on/off couple might be getting back on good terms with each other. Eagle-eyed fans noticed that Zayn followed Gigi on Instagram again and they could not be more excited.

Of course, this doesn't mean that the couple is officially back together, but at least this proves that things are going well between them. Shortly before he followed her back, Gigi liked his post about his recent cover of "A Whole New World" that will be featured in the Aladdin live-action movie.

Maybe this means they are one step closer to getting back together?

April 4, 2019:

Zayn Malik has been pretty intense on Twitter recently, going off on vague rants and telling people to "go f*ck yourselves with your irrelevant bullsh*t." Due to the timing of these tweets, many—including me—assumed they were about his ex-Gigi, who had recently been seen out with another guy (see below). Now, Zayn is setting the record straight.

"To any dumb f*ck out there that wants to make they’re own stories up," he began his most recent rant. "My tweet was not about @GiGiHadid so leave her the f*ck alone." He then began to praise his ex, saying, "she is the most amazing woman I’ve ever known."

"And does nothing but love and support me when lord knows I don’t deserve it," he continued.

Then, things took a more aggressive turn:

"If you know nothing shut your f*cking mouth," he concluded. Noted!

So, there you have it. His Twitter tirade the other day was NOT about Gigi Hadid...but this one is.

April 3, 2019:

Gigi is living the single life these days, so of course that leads to speculation that she is dating every guy she is seen out with. Things were no different when the model was spotted hanging out with her good friend Samuel Krost recently. Their hangout sesh caused many tabloids to assume the two were dating, especially after they were seen getting very close just a few days after they were initially seen together.

You may recognize Samuel Krost if you followed the Fyre Festival saga and watched Netflix's Fyre: The Greatest Party That Never Happened. Krost worked on the festival, booking the musical acts despite having no experience in talent booking. Samuel also used to date Selena Gomez, a friend of Gigi's.

The model was not too happy with the speculation that she is dating Samuel. She took to Twitter to voice her frustration. "If you outlets are going to continue writing bs headlines every time I'm seen with a friend of the male gender then there's gunna be a lot of unneeded confusion," she wrote.

Meanwhile, it seems like Zayn saw those pics of Gigi and Samuel as well, because he went on a Twitter rant the same day, that some are assuming was regarding Gigi.

Obviously, we don't know what these cryptic tweets are about, but the timing sure makes it seem like he was venting about Gigi and the fact that she just might be ready to move on.

March 29, 2019:

Ever since Gigi and Zayn broke up in January, the public has been trying to figure out what is going on between them. Despite reports that they were no longer together, Zayn continued to profess his love for his ex on Twitter and Gigi was even spotted leaving the singer's apartment at one point.

Sources now are saying, however, that the two are definitely broken up. And while Gigi "still has feelings for Zayn," they are not getting back together.

According to Us Weekly, the two "still talk," but reconciliation seems out of the question because Zayn has "major issues and [Gigi] knows they aren’t compatible." It's unclear what these major issues are, but Gigi reportedly couldn't help Zayn get through them. She “cut herself off from all her friends every time they were together," said a source. "She focused all her time and energy on him, but it just got to be too much.”

While there is always a possibility that the two could get back together (it wouldn't be the first time), for now, Gigi is "very single."

March 22, 2019:

Looks like Zayn and Gigi are back together after all. While the couple still haven't made their reconciliation public just yet, fans are pretty sure they're back on good terms again after one of them asked him about his bracelet that says, "I'm with you."

"I love it because Gigi bought me it," he revealed on Twitter.

It would be kind of weird for you to wear something that your ex got you, much less tell the public about it. Hopefully this means we'll see them on some more cute dates together, but it's likely they'll stay hush hush about the whole thing a little while longer.

March 4, 2019:

Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik are seriously on and off more than Ross and Rachel. They may have broken up back in January, but Gigi was still spotted leaving Zayn's apartment in NYC just a few weeks after their split when public, obviously complicating the news.

To make things more confusing, Zayn randomly tweeted his love for Gigi posting, "@GiGiHadid love you," the other day, seemingly out of the blue.

Gigi hasn't responded, at least publicly, so the tweet remains a mystery. What does this mean?? Are they back together? Is this Zayn's plea for reconciliation? Or is he simply reminiscing about the old times? Give us something to go off of here!!

January 16, 2019:

Gigi Hadid was spotted leaving Zayn's New York City apartment in the wee hours of the morning, sparking rumors that the pair is back together after breaking up earlier this month.

In pictures shared by The Sun, we can see Gigi looking casual and cool while leaving Zayn's apartment. So, are Zayn and Gigi getting back together, or was Gigi simply visiting her friend after her trip to Europe? It's hard to tell, but obviously, there's something going on here.

January 4, 2019:

Gigi and Zayn have officially called it quits. Earlier reports said that the couple were just spending some time apart, however, they recently took it one step further and decided to end things.

"They’re done," a source told US Weekly. "They could get back together, but it’s over for now."

The source also says that Gigi tried to make things work, but Zayn has "a lot of his own issues that she couldn’t help him get through." They also talk about how Gigi kept herself away from her friends when they first got back together, which ended up becoming too much for the model.

Gigi celebrated New Year's Eve with Taylor Swift and several of her other friends, so it looks like she's back to hanging out with her BFFs. With Zayn releasing new music, it's probably a safe bet to say that they'll be a breakup song or two coming out in the future.

January 3, 2019:

It looks like Gigi and Zayn are starting off the new year apart. A source told E! News that the couple has been spending some time away from each other since NOVEMBER. While it doesn't seem like it's an all out break up, that's still a long time to not be together.

"They are in different points in their lives right now and decided they needed the time to breath apart from each other. They are still in touch and both hope that things will work out, but their relationship is always up and down," the source said.

They also said that Zayn is currently busy recording his new album, while Gigi has had plenty of downtime since the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show.

Gigi rang in the new year with some of her BFFs instead, joining Taylor Swift at her costume party where she dressed up as Mary Poppins.

No word on what Zayn did, but he did recently post a selfie on his Instagram page.

Here's hoping everything works out for them soon.

December 28, 2018:

Gigi and Zayn have never been that outspoken about their relationship, but they've been so mum recently that some fans are beginning to think that the couple may have split.

While in the past the two have shared pics of them celebrating the holidays together, they didn't post any pics of each other on social media this year. In fact, neither of them posted any pics from the holidays aside from a throwback pic from Gigi.

Us Magazine noticed that Zayn doesn't have any photos of the model on his Instagram and he doesn't even follow Gigi on the social media site.

A few weeks ago, Gigi even retweeted a super cryptic tweet from Kehlani. "I do not owe you myself," it read. "I do not owe you any information about me beyond what i choose for you to know. I do not owe you strength when i am weak. I do not owe you answers just because you ask." Sounds like a breakup tweet, no?

November 14, 2018:

We haven't heard from Gigi and Zayn in a while, and while normally that would be nbd, Zayn just released a new song with Nicki Minaj and the lyrics suggest that things aren't going too well for the young couple.

According to E! News, "No Candle No Light" "tells the story of a couple whose relationship has run its course." Where would Zayn have gotten the inspiration for this song if not from his relationship with Gigi? We hope it's not true, but the lyrics speak for themselves:

"I can't do it, no, baby, I can't do it / I only end up losing, who are we really fooling? / It's agree to disagree, some things ain't meant to be / But I wanted you and me, SMS in the morning like / We gotta, we gotta, we gotta face it / The fire, the fire ain't no longer blazing."

October 21, 2018:

After two months of radio silence, Gigi and Zayn have emerged and they are looking more in love than ever.

Gigi posted the sweetest pic on Instagram with the caption "flyin home to my happy place ❤️" and the whole world just collectively went, "awwwwwww!"

The pair have been very busy with their own respective lives recently. Gigi just finished up a whirlwind fashion month and was recently confirmed for this year's Victoria Secret Fashion Show. Meanwhile, Zayn is busy writing songs about his ex-bandmate, Harry Styles.

We're glad that when things calm down, Gigi and Zayn have each other's arms to fall into.

August 23, 2018:

Gigi and Zayn joined Zayn's family to celebrate the Muslim holiday of Eid. The two spent time with Zayn's mom, brother, and sister, and shared some super cute pics on Instagram.

Gigi also posted a pic on her Instagram story of Zayn and his sister with the caption, "Home for Eid."

This is the second year in a row the couple as spent the holiday together. Eid al-Adha is a very important Muslim holiday and is known as "The Festival of Sacrifice."

August 8, 2018:

In the words of Taylor Swift, "I want to wear his initial on a chain round my neck, not because he owns me, but 'cause he really knows me." Apparently Gigi agrees because she was just seen wearing a "Zayn" necklace out and about with her bae.

There it is! So, if you had any question as to whether or not Gigi and Zayn really got back together...Gigi just answered it.

July 2018

Gigi is not here for anyone trying to call her relationship fake, which is why she’s recently taken issue with @exposingfakeeasszigiii. The fan-run Instagram account posts various “confessions” about Gigi’s relationship with Zayn, calling it fake and for promotion. Gigi responded back to a confession that was posted on the account after finally having enough.

According to Gigi, the account tags her in all their confessions, which is the reason why she found out about the account in the first place.

The fan account replied back to Gigi saying that they've never said anything bad about Gigi and they don't agree with most of the confessions posted on the page.

A fan fired back at her saying that she should've messaged the owner through a PM, instead of replying back publicly.

"I see your point that it should have been a direct message, and I agree - just didn't think of it," she wrote. She also went on to say that despite what others might think, the messages are hurtful to her and her relationship.

"I've just had enough.. just because I'm 'a celebrity' doesn't mean I don't feel, or that my time is too precious to not listen to what people have to say. I'm sure you can see how assumptions like this can be hurtful, especially about someone I love deeply- if you guys love him too, sooner or later you'll realize we're on the same team. ;)"

"I know my truth, we know our truth, this s--t won't change that," she wrote. "Just trying to save some lil girls some time, that's all .... If they don't want to see it that way, then you're right, I'm wasting my time too … but here we are. xx."

June 2018

The two make their relationship re-Instagram official with an adorable cuddle sesh pic. Gigi posted the Zigi confirmation to her Instagram Stories after attending the Oceans 8 premiere.

A week later, Gigi posts another pic of Zayn on her story. Looks like it's official!

In his GQ cover story, Zayn opens up about his ex girlfriend (possibly current girlfriend?), Gigi. Despite speculation that the two may be back together, Zayn explains why they won't put a label on it anytime soon.

“I’m really thankful that I met her…We’re adults. We don’t need to put a label on it, make it something for people’s expectations. I had a very negative outlook on things [while recording my first solo album]. That might have been adolescence or testosterone or whatever the f*ck was running through my body at the time. She’s helped me to look at things from a positive angle,” he said.

Plus, he was wearing a Wrangler x Peter Max tee, which is a pretty big deal considering Gigi wore the same on June 1. Now, aside from their relationship status, the big question is, who wore it better?

Welp, that didn't last long! One month later, Zigi is back on. TMZ caught them making out very publicly in the streets of NYC.

March 2018

After reports of a split surface, Gigi and Zayn both confirm their breakup with painfully well-written Twitter posts where they basically just showered each other in compliments.

Following the breakup, Zayn unfollowed both Gigi and her mom Yolanda on Instagram (even though they're both still following him). Brutal.

October 2017

For Halloween, Zigi did a couple's costume, dressing up as Spiderman and The Black Cat, while spamming Instagram with their cuteness.

September 2017

Their year-long relationship seems to be getting serious. Gigi and Zayn spent the Muslim holiday Eid al-Adha with both of their moms. Families combining is a big step!

July 2017

Another Vogue spread! Gigi and Zayn did a couple's shoot for a gender fluidity-themed cover. Their outfits were chic af, but the couple got major backlash, because neither of them are actually gender fluid.

June 2016

In an interview with Elle.com, Gigi shuts down breakup rumors in the most subtle way.

When asked whether she prefers a night out or night in, Gigi said: "Night in. Cook. Paint. Play with my dog. Hang out with my boyfriend. Watch movies. Just chill."

May 2016

For the "Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology" Met Gala, Z and G walked the red carpet as a couple, looking like a pair of wildly stylish robots.

Shortly after, multiple sources report that the pair have broken up.

April 2016

Zigi stars in a steamy af photoshoot for Vogue, where they made out all over Naples.

February 2016

If the music video/Twitter PDA didn't make it clear enough, Zayn confirms that Gigi is his girlfriend while chatting with Zach Sang & The Gang.

January 2016

Paps capture photo evidence that Zayn's face is the lock screen on Gigi's phone (that's how you know it's real), but the couple continues to play coy. In a radio interview, Zayn says he and Gigi are "good friends, yeah."

Later that month, SURPRISE! Gigi stars in Zayn's "PILLOWTALK" music video and they basically just make out for three minutes straight.

Following the big reveal, the two engage in some probably intentional over-the-top flirting on Twitter.

November 2015

Three months after breaking off his engagement to Little Mix's Perrie Edwards, Us Weekly reports that Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid have started dating. This comes after Gigi split with Joe Jonas earlier that month.

Days after the reports broke, the new couple was caught holding hands in their first major moment of PDA.
