Since the news of her sibling’s death earlier this year, Bravo fans have wondered how Taylor’s brother died from Southern Charm and what happened to Worth Green. Taylor Ann Green is a cast member on Southern Charm, Bravo’s reality TV series following the personal and professional lives of socialites in Charleston, South Carolina. Taylor joined in Season 7 as the girlfriend of original cast member, Shep Rose. Taylor and Shep broke up in August 2022.

Taylor’s brother, Worth Green, died on June 8, 2023. He was 36 years old. Taylor’s brother appeared in several episodes of Southern Charm Season 9. In Episode 14, “Playing House,” Taylor called her brother for advice after rest of the Southern Charm cast accused her of hooking up with her co-star Austen Kroll, who’s the ex-girlfriend of her former best friend, Olivia Flowers. “You’re not the bad guy. As your older brother, if anyone makes you unhappy, let me know and I’ll come down there,” Taylor’s brother told her on a FaceTime call. “Taylor Ann, also, what would Jesus do?…I’m sorry you’re going through that.”

How did Taylor’s brother die from Southern Charm? Taylor Ann Green’s brother, Worth Green, died on June 8, 2023. He was 36 years old. According to his obituary with the Westmoreland Funeral Home, Worth died in his sleep. Taylor confirmed the death of her brother, whose full name is Richard Worthington Green, in a statement to People on June 14, 2023. “Worth left this world on top of the world – he had a beautiful passion for life and cared deeply for those around him,” the statement read.

The statement continued, “We are going to miss his jovial personality and all of the love and laughter that he brought his family, girlfriend and countless friends. Heartbroken is an understatement, but we are finding so much peace knowing he is in the arms of our Heavenly Father. We kindly ask for privacy at this time.”

Taylor and Worth’s sister, Catie King, first shared the news in an Instagram tribute at the time. “You are the best big brother I could have ever asked for. This family will never be the same. I love you to the moon and back,” Catie captioned a photo of her and Taylor’s brother. Taylor’s ex-boyfriend and Southern Charm co-star, Shep Rose, commented on King’s post, calling Taylor’s brother “absolutely one of a kind. A pleasure to know and to laugh with.”

Taylor’s brother’s funeral was held on June 17, 2023, at Nebo Crossing Church in Marion, North Carolina. In lieu of flowers, Worth’s family asked loved ones to donate to Terra Firma Floors, an organization to build floors and eliminate dirt floors in Latin America.

The week after his funeral, Taylor paid tribute to her brother with an Instagram post of them together. “Not enough words can encapsulate who Worth was and the impact he left behind,” she captioned an Instagram carousel of photos and videos. “June 8th, 2023 The Lord called you home. We are going to miss your goofiness, your bear hugs, and that infectious laugh.”

She continued, “I will always admire the steadfast love you had for your family, friends (too many to count), your girlfriend and Jesus Christ. You truly went out on top of your game and we so look forward to seeing you again one day♥️”

She concluded the post with a quote from comedian Groucho Marx: “Blessed are the cracked, for they are the ones who let light in.”

Taylor’s brother’s death came four months after the death of her Southern Charm co-star Olivia Flowers’ brother Conner in February 2023. “It’s wild to even think about that all happening after I just experienced it with Olivia,” Taylor told Entertainment Tonight in September 2023. “And having never lost a person who is super, super close to me, so of course Olivia has been incredible in reaching out to me and, you know, on that level of our friendship where it’s, like, this weird, horrible club to be a part of, but there we are, we’re together in it.”

She continued, “You will get to see a little bit of my brother [on the season] and just know that he is, like, the most awesome, fun-loving, easygoing, caring human being and I’m excited that people get to see that, experience that.”

Taylor’s brother’s full name is Richard Worthington Green, however, he went by the nickname “Worth.” “Richard Worthington Green, ‘Worth’ as he was known to everyone, age 36, woke up in the arms of Jesus on Thursday, June 8, 2023,” Worth’s obituary read.” Worth was born in Asheville, NC and was the oldest child of Richard C. “Rick” and Leslie Dark Green. He was also the older brother of Catie Green King and her husband, Jim, of Warm Springs, VA and Taylor Ann Green of Charleston, SC.”

According to his obituary, Worth graduaed from Sunhawk Academy in 2005 and East Carolina University in 2009. He lived for a time in South Korea, where he taught English. “Worth was a 2005 graduate of Sunhawk Academy (“Bad Boy Camp” as he liked to call it) and a 2009 graduate of East Carolina University,” his obituary read. “He was a beautiful example of how to live life as fully as possible. His personality was vibrant, outgoing, and loving. Worth never knew a stranger. He had a love for travel which began when he moved to South Korea after college where he taught English as a second language. One of his favorite trips was playing his newfound passion of golf in Ireland with friends.”

His obiturary continued, “Worth was no doubt an adventurer. He loved spending time at Lake James and spent many family and friend gatherings there making beautiful memories. Worth had recently started a small men’s group in Raleigh to reflect on life and challenge each other’s faith in Christ. There is no doubt Worth is now in deep, meaningful conversations with Jesus about any and everything.”

Worth is survived by his parents, Rick and Leslie; his sisters, Taylor and Catie King; his partner Caroline Evans, as well as other family members. “Worth loved his family dearly,” his obituary read. “Any excuse to be with them, he truly loved with his whole heart. He was a vivacious and loving son and grandson, and the best big brother to his sisters, always being there as a protector and a cheerleader. Most recently he met the woman he adored and treasured. Caroline brought so much joy to his life. He loved her enough to bring her home to his family and was beginning to plan a future with her by his side. Friends too numerous to name will miss the exuberant love for life that Worth brought to them.”

The obiturary continued, “In addition to his parents, Rick & Leslie, and his sisters, Catie Green King (Jim) and Taylor Ann Green, and Caroline Evans of Raleigh, he is survived by his paternal grandmother, Catherine Sellars Green of Burlington; his maternal grandparents, Ralph Marshall Dark, Jr., and Barbara Worthington Dark of Marion; “adopted” grandmother, Melita Burnette of Candler, NC; uncles and aunts include, Marsh and Karen Dark, and David and Kitty Green; many cousins; and his devoted god-mother, Mishew Smith Edwards of Durham, NC. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Hubert Baxter Green.”
