In June, Netflix released Murder Mystery: a film about a married couple who go on a European holiday to reignite the spark in their relationship.

But lo and behold, things go pear-shaped when they're framed for murder. Nightmare.

Anyway, according to Netflix, 30 million people have watched Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston's new film. So, we're guessing a few of you must have noticed this Happy Gilmore Easter egg?

Remember Adam's 1996 golfing movie, yeah? Well then, you must remember Carl Weathers' character Chubbs: a golf-loving fellow who wears a fake hand after he lost his in a tragic/pretty funny fight with an alligator. But it's fine, because he managed to take the eye of the hand-eating bastard in the tussle.

A hat-tip here to PopSugar, who noticed this: In Murder Mystery, there's a character called Colonel Ulenga (played by John Kani) who also has a fake hand, and get this, has lost one of his eyes after an incident with a bomb. So the Colonel has both Chubbs and the alligator's injuries.

If that's not enough, there's also a callback to Chubbs later on in the movie when Adam and Jen's characters—Nick and Audrey—almost fall to their death as they shimmy past the Colonel's window in an attempt to escape the murderer.

In Happy Gilmore, Chubbs falls out of a window to his death after Adam's character shocks him by showing him the head of the alligator that bit off his hand.

Yes, yes, maybe we're clutching at straws (with two fake hands), but we still think this seems like something Adam Sandler would do.
