There has been ongoing speculation among social media users about whether Prince Harry underwent a hair transplant in recent years. To shed some light on this topic, New York City-based plastic surgeon Dr. Gary Linkov recently analyzed a range of photos featuring the former working royal’s hair, taken from the age of 19 up until his current age of 39. Based on his analysis, Dr. Linkov offered his expert opinion on why he believes Harry underwent a hair transplant, and outlined the key visual cues he spotted in the photos.

Prince Harry Might Have Gotten A Hair Transplant, A Plastic Surgeon Explains

In the video, Linkov first explained that when the Spare author was 19, he had "temples that align with the lateral aspect of his eyebrows." Linkov added: "at the age of 20, given the low hairline, his upper third of the face appears shorter."

Two years later when Harry was 22, Linkov pointed out that he had a significant "widow's peak." When Harry was 23, Linkov said there were "very early signs of right temple thinning." When Harry turned 24, Linkov said the shape of his hairline "started to change." Three years later, Linkov noted that Harry's hairline "started to slowly recede."

2013 was a significant year in Harry's hair transformation, Linkov said, as this is when "crown hair loss" began, with "some density differences appearing the following year as well.

As for hair transplant rumors? Linkov explained that he believed Harry underwent the procedure in 2017, based on photos of his hair that year.

"I think Prince Harry may have had a hair transplant around this time. The procedure could have been anywhere from 1,200 to 1,800 grafts, possibly more." Grafting, Linkov said, is a common way of moving hair from one place to another on one's head.

"The likely recipient areas were the hairline and the frontal scalp," the doctor added. One year later, Linkov said that the "results of his potential hair transplant were more evident at the hairline" and that the hairline might have been altered to look more "natural."

In 2021, Linkov said Harry's hair "continued to thin." Linkov then pulled up more recent pictures of the father of two's hairline. "In 2023, the majority of the hair that remains at the frontal scalp, I believe, may be due to his hair transplant," Linkov said. "At this point, Prince Harry has about 30 to 40 percent of his original density in the frontal scalp and about 15 to 20 percent of the original hair density in the mid-scalp and crown."

Harry has not responded to the rumors, but his brother Prince William has embraced his hair loss and receding hairline in recent years, even making jokes about it. Male pattern baldness, Linkov noted in the video, can be attributed to genetics.
