Former Vice President Joe Biden appeared at the second Democratic debate on Wednesday night, where he discussed immigration, climate change and health care. While social media users had plenty to say about his performance, some also wondered whether Joe Biden had Botox.

Botulinum toxin type A – commonly known as Botox – may cure migraines, depression, and even excessive sweating, according to research. However, it's best known to treat crow's feet, forehead furrows and frown lines.

Twitter users were quick to point out that 76-year-old Biden looked exceptionally younger, and some credited it to the minimally invasive procedure instead of a proper diet, drinking enough water or even a good makeup artist.

However, this isn't the first time that the former vice president has been accused of having the treatment.

In 2008, the Washington Post said Biden looked “different,” saying it was “something about his eyes, which seem smaller, and his forehead, which seems smoother.” Dr. Barry Cohen told the outlet at the time that "he clearly has had Botox,” adding that "the lines are gone on his forehead. There is no way makeup or surgery could do that."

Biden spokesman David Wade refuted those claims, telling the Washington Post the Botox rumors were "completely untrue, completely unsubstantiated.”

Often, these cosmetic enhancement allegations are aimed at female public figures, including 2016 Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton. Still, plastic-surgery rumors have followed other politicians, including Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sarah Palin and Vladimir Putin.
