Diary of Teenage Beauty Lover

I’m an LA girl born and raised and I live for music and fashion. When I’m not focused on my junior year of high school, you can find me snapping photos at concerts, playing drums or hanging out with my friends. I dream of being a music and fashion journalist, and currently run my own blog about my life.

Like almost every teenage girl, I love makeup. Whether it’s trying to learn cool techniques from my favorite Youtube stars, or testing new products at Sephora—makeup is something I love and use on the daily. While some girls love wearing a full face to school or work everyday, I go for a more relaxed look.

This is my beauty routine for a typical day in my life.

I start off my routine with either foundation or just concealer. My routine changes depending on how my skin looks each day. If I need more coverage, I use Clinque “Beyond Perfection” foundation ($27). I blend this in with my Sephora “Classic Mini Multitasker” brush ($14). I then cover up any leftover problem spots with Nars concealer in “Vanilla” ($24). If my skin is clear, I skip the foundation and just dab on my concealer where necessary!

For my eyebrows, I use Anastasia “Brow Wiz” in “Chocolate ($21). After I have filled them in, I then go over them with Anastasia “Clear Brow Gel” ($22) to set my work. My eyebrows are 100% the most important part of my beauty routine—I don’t leave the house without them done!

Next, I do my eyes. I start with Benefit “Stay Don’t Stray” eyeshadow primer ($26). Then, I use my Urban Decay “Naked Smoky” palette in “High” ($54). After that, I use the original Urban Decay “Naked” palette ($54). It has one of my favorite colors, “Sidecar,” which I blend with “High” to complete my look. I love a simple sparkly look for my day to day eyeshadow.

After applying my eyeshadow, I put on my absolute favorite mascara, “Better Than Sex” by Too Faced ($23). This mascara is incredible and adds so much length and definition to my lashes.

Depending on my mood, I will either add Stila “Stay All Day” liquid liner ($22), or just leave it at mascara.

Lately I’ve been obsessed with using highlight to brighten up my look. I currently use two different brands to get the best overall shimmer. First, I take the Milk Makeup highlighter stick in “Lit” ($24) and apply it on my cheek bones. After my first round of sparkle, I add the Urban Decay “Illuminating Shimmer Powder” in “Luminous” ($30) to finish my look.

Most days, I simply put on a swipe of Chapstick and head out the door, but recently I’ve been adding a light shade of lipstick. My current favorite is “Faux” by MAC. It’s a super simple pink that makes me feel camera ready, without being too much.

I never leave the house without my mini Nars concealer and Anastasia brow gel in my favorite Kate Spade crossbody! Once everything is packed and ready, I head to The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf on my way to school. I just can’t get through my day without an iced coffee with vanilla!

Around lunchtime, I tend to add more concealer (depending on what I need), and I always add more gel to my brows to keep them in place.

Makeup isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but it can give you that zing of confidence you need to go out and face the world. It isn’t just about masking a problem, but feeling good about your look. Keeping it simple and true to you is the best possible thing you can do!
