Devon Sawa Gifted His Son a Major Dad Joke for His 10th Birthday & The Utter Disgust Is Everything

Devon Sawa’s son expected a big birthday present for his big milestone birthday yesterday. And rightfully so! Hudson turned 10, and the first double digits birthday usually equals a doubly exciting gift. But he was met with the bummer of a lifetime when his dad decided this was the perfect opportunity for a dad joke.

The Casper actor shared a video on Instagram where he gave his son — who he shares with wife Dawni Sahanovitch — a brown paper bag with a bag of dried apples and fresh beets. And while Hudson was thoroughly unimpressed, Sawa was thrilled when the realization finally hit.
“Apple! Beets! Apple Beats! Just what you asked for,” the Little Giants star said, so proud of his dad joke.
“Oh my god!” Hudson huffed, slamming the beets onto the table.
“He loves them!” Sawa’s daughter Scarlett, 7 said to the camera, but we’re not so convinced.
Hudson just kept gesturing at the produce, shaking his head and giving the prank a thumbs down. By the end, he did have a good-natured smile on his face, probably knowing there was another gift (hopefully) waiting for him elsewhere.
“This is like when my mom told me to check out the car in the driveway on my 16th birthday, and it was a toy Hot Wheels 😒,” one follower commented.
“😂😂 the daddest of dad jokes,” another said.
Yesterday, Sawa posted a sweet birthday tribute with a selfie of him and Hudson.
“I woke up today and realized my boy is now ten,” the proud dad wrote. “I have a ten-year-old little guy that I love unconditionally. A young man that I couldn’t be prouder of and who makes me smile from ear-to-ear, on a regular basis. I love you to the moon and back, Hudson.”
One follower insisted that Hudson looks just like Sawa when he starred in Casper and Little Giants, and it brought us back to the sweet video from 2020 when Hudson watched Casper. He couldn’t contain his excitement, frequently jumping up from the couch as he waited to see his dad’s face on the TV. The little guy called the movie “amazing” and the whole thing had fans getting emo.
So even if there are eye-roll-worthy dad jokes, it’s clear these two have a really sweet bond.
Back in 2014, Sawa called the week of Hudson’s birth the “most amazing week ever.” “I love him. He’s my little pride and joy,” he continued.
