Forget pictures of celebrities buying produce or whatever—the real “famous people are still just like us” moments are the ones when they do something so human that it makes you want to hug them and cringe at the same time. Like when a celebrity (or one of their friends, anonymously sharing private details with gossip magazines on their behalf) admits to things like still missing their recent ex and being openly dismissive of their new relationship.

Enter: Devin Booker, who, based on new information from a source (friend? relative? nosy Uber driver? no way to know), does not seem to be over Kendall Jenner yet.

The first clue: The source said Devin is pretty damn positive that Kendall’s relationship with Bad Bunny is purely casual. Full stop.

“Devin doesn’t believe for one minute that Kendall and Bad Bunny’s relationship is that serious,” a source told Us Weekly. “He doesn’t think he’s her type and finds it difficult to believe there’s any longevity there between them.”

Yep, nothing says “I’m not actually over my ex” like declaring that you’re sure their new relationship is just a meaningless fling that will never evolve into anything more. Ever. Actually, scratch that. There *is* one thing that says “I’m not actually over my ex” more, which is just openly admitting to people around you that you’re not over your ex and still maybe, kinda, sort of…you know…thinking about a future with them.

“Devin still thinks about Kendall on occasion and a piece of him still misses her. He has no idea what the future holds, and although maybe their timing wasn’t right, doesn’t mean it can’t happen at some point down the line,” the source explained, adding that Devin is “not completely over” Kendall (just in case that wasn’t clear yet?). “They dated for a long time and he still cares about her. He’s not actively trying to get back with her but isn’t exactly opposed to the idea either.”

Honestly, the hug/cringe urge rating is off the charts—the vulnerable honesty, the conscious opening of the door to a possible future together, the perfunctory attempt to seem chill and unaffected that seems like it’s almost an afterthought or formality. It’s all there.

And just to be clear, if you’re also feeling the hug/cringe urges for Devin rn, it’s important to point out that that’s not a bad or mean thing. The cringe you’re feeling honestly isn’t even about Devin—it’s a feeling that comes from seeing such a familiar vulnerability reflected back at us from another person. We’re all human and we all have messy, complicated feelings—some people are just more comfortable owning those feelings. Devin Booker deserves a million emotional Likes for owning feelings (if he sanctioned this source’s interview with Us Weekly, that is—if not, he deserves a million puppy kisses and a new circle of friends filled with people who would never casually expose his most vulnerable thoughts and feelings to the world without his permission). And either way, he deserves any good vibes or imaginary hugs you’d like to send in his general direction.
