New Details Uncovered Regarding Jeremy Renner's Horrific Snowplow Accident

Renner was reportedly attempting to save his nephew from the snowplow when the the incident happened.

On Jan. 1, Marvel actor Jeremy Renner was in an accident involving a snowplow that left him with more than 30 broken bones, which resulted in a two-week long hospitalization. Now, a sheriff's report has revealed more details on the incident and what caused it.

According to CNN, which received the report through a public records request, it states that Renner's PistenBully snow groomer, which weighs at least 14,330 pounds, as reported by Fox Business, started sliding towards the actor's grown nephew, "causing Renner to exit the vehicle without setting the emergency brake."

The report further states, "Although the Pistenbully had some mechanical issues, it is believed based on our mechanical inspection that the parking brake would keep the Pistenbully from moving forward. When Renner attempted to stop or divert the Pistenbully to avoid injury to (his nephew), he was pulled under the vehicle by the track and run over.”

After, “The Pistenbully rolled over him and continued down the road," as the report says. Renner "laid on the ground and focused on his breathing while (his nephew and others) rendered aid to him until medical personnel arrived on scene.”

A mechanical inspection was done on the PistenBully, leading to the discovery that the brake indicator light inside the vehicle's cab was not working, so "mechanical issues may have been a factor in this accident."

Renner previously stated that he was using the snowplow to help get his nephew's truck out of his driveway after it got stuck in the snow.

The actor is now back at home recovering and has shared many updates throughout his time in the hospital, thanking the ICU team and others for their care.

Renner's sister, Kym Renner, said in a statement that the 52-year-old "is crushing all the progress goals. We couldn't feel more positive about the road ahead."
