Star Trek really has gone where no man has gone before. This season on Star Trek: Strange New Worlds saw two milestone episodes—a crossover between the live action series and the animated Star Trek: Lower Decks and a musical episode, a first in Star Trek history. With Star Trek: Discovery coming into its final season and Star Trek: Prodigy recently canceled, what's in store for Star Trek fans? We're sure to get some interesting announcements on Star Trek Day which is coming up on Sept. 8. Perhaps we'll finally get details about the oft-rumored Section 31 series.

When is Star Trek Day?

Star Trek Day takes place on Friday, Sept. 8. In celebration, fans can watch for free globally at StarTrek.com/Day, YouTube (Paramount+ and STAR TREK Official pages), Twitch (Paramount+) and Facebook (@StarTrekOnPPlus and @StarTrek). In the U.S., the special will be available to stream on Paramount+, Pluto TV (Paramount+ Picks, STAR TREK, More STAR TREK and Pluto TV Sci-Fi channels) and Mixable and will air on select local CBS affiliates, Comedy Central, Paramount Network, Pop TV, Fave TV and Smithsonian.com.

What can I expect on Star Trek Day?

Jerry O'Connell (who voice Commander Jack Ransom on Star Trek: Lower Decks) will host this year's event which will include  segments that look back at memorable moments over the past 57 years; commemorate 50 years of Star Trek animation; pay tribute to Star Trek: Discovery, ahead of its final season; provide an exclusive sneak-peek clip from the upcoming fourth season of Star Trek: Lower Decks; and commemorate many other moments that highlight Star Trek’s legacy.

CBS will also broadcast the first two episodes of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds on Star Trek Day beginning at 8 p.m. ET.

Fans will also have the opportunity to celebrate 50 years of Star Trek animation with special screenings in select cities in the U.S., Canada, and the United Kingdom. All screenings are free to attend but you'll have to register beginning at 12 p.m. ET on August 24 at this link. The Star Trek: Lower Decks screenings will take place in Columbus, Dallas, Denver, Philadelphia, Phoenix, San Diego, St. Louis, Washington, DC, Vancouver, Calgary, and London.
