Brittany Mahomes has been a well-known figure in the sports world for years, thanks to her constant presence on the sidelines while cheering for her husband, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

But the 28-year-old has recently become a household name after appearing alongside her husband in the Netflix documentary Quarterback and forging a new friendship with Taylor Swift, who is dating Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.

Oh, and ahead of a li'l sporting event called the Super Bowl, Brittany is making major headlines as a 2024 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Rookie. The mom of two and personal trainer graced the legendary magazine cover in a stunning red swimsuit, showing off her fit physique.

If you just so happen to be wondering what Brittany's workout routine looks like, well, the former pro athlete (yes, you read that right!) has been putting in the work for years. Here’s everything you need to know about Brittany's soccer career and how she currently stays fit:

Brittany played soccer in college.

She went to school at the University of Texas at Tyler and played soccer for the school. Brittany (whose maiden name is Matthews) played forward and scored three goals in one game during her 2016 season, a.k.a. her senior year, according to her official team bio. She wrapped up her season with 18 goals and four assists.

After graduating, she went pro in Iceland.

Brittany inked a deal to play professional soccer in Iceland for a team called UMF Afturelding/Fram, as she shared on Quarterback. While Brittany’s team won a championship in her first season, she ended up returning to the U.S. after a year to be with Patrick, according to Newsweek.

She has a degree in kinesiology.

Brittany graduated from college with a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology, according to her training website, Brittany Lynne Fitness. She’s also a certified personal trainer. “I have experience with all levels of fitness and have carried that experience with me to create exercise programs for people at all stages on their fitness journey,” Brittany says on her website. "I want YOU to feel the same as I feel – confident, strong, empowered, and beautiful!!"

She started an online training program in 2019.

Brittany launched her training program, Brittany Lynne Fitness, in 2019. “’Training like Britt’ means many things—working hard, staying dedicated, not making excuses, and most of all, no BS!” she wrote on her website. “These programs are designed to tone, grow muscle, and get STRONG. Don’t be afraid to lift heavy and push yourself!”

Previously, there were three training programs available to purchase, one focusing on full body, lower body, and HIIT. However, the site says they're making some changes and that new programs are in the works.

Working out is a big part of Brittany's life.

If you follow Brittany on Instagram, you know that she's frequently in the gym. She often gives her followers a glimpse into her workout routine on her Instagram Story.

She recently shared this video of her doing a killer workout in partnership with OWYN. "You’re going to want a @liveowyn protein shake after tackling this leg day #liveowyn ⬇️," Brittany wrote in the caption, before sharing the exact amount of sets and reps she did for each exercise.

And Brittany practices what she preaches. "Staying active and being in the gym has been a huge part of my life," she said in a December 2023 interview with Eating Well. After her professional soccer career came to an end, Brittany realized that "being in the gym was something that I remained super passionate about."

"I enjoy strength training and lifting weights mostly, but also walks with the kids and the dogs," she told the publication. The mom-of-two explained that she loves staying active and believes it allows her to become the best version of herself for her kids—physically and mentally. "Being able to run around with them and teach them to play sports as they grow is so important to me!" she said.

She prefers her diet to be filled with nourishing foods.

In her interview with Eating Well, Brittany said she loves to enjoy nourishing foods with her loved ones. She also shared that both of her children have food allergies, so she's been incorporating more allergen-free products into her family's meals.

For dinners, her go-to "is always a taco night," she told the pulbication. "It's so easy to throw together and to get the whole family involved in the cooking process. Both Patrick and the kids love it."

After the birth of her daughter, Brittany shared what her diet looked like on her postpartum journey. She shared various versions of rice bowls with chicken and yummy veggies, chicken kebabs, seafood, and salads filled with tuna, veggies, and fruit, per Life and Style magazine.

The fitness trainer also gets her protein from OWYN's protein shakes. She posted a picture with one of the shakes with a caption detailing how food allergies have been a big part of their lives after finding out that her son, Bronze, has a severe peanut allergy.

Her hubby has her to thank for getting his nutrition in check. She told Men's Health that "he was not big into nutrition and diet and eating healthy coming out of college because I feel like it's kind of hard in college to eat healthy." Once the two moved in together, she straightened his diet out and told him "we're not playing games, you're going to start trying new things. You're going to eat healthy. I'm not going to sit here and watch you eat that stuff."

She told the publication, "And I remember one time when I was cooking, I gave Patrick mashed cauliflower. And I told him it was mashed potatoes."

Soccer still holds a special place in Brittany's heart.

While she may not play on the professional level anymore, Brittany co-founded her city's professional women’s soccer team, Kansas City Current, along with Patrick.

“An advocate for women in sports and a leader in the Kansas City community, Brittany has always had her eyes on bringing the NWSL back to KC,” her Kansas City Current bio reads. “Her competitive drive and passion for the game of soccer bring a new energy to the club’s ownership group. She shares the Longs’ commitment to continue building a championship mentality in Kansas City for years to come.”
