Despite Tough Times For Industry, Privateer Bikes Teases New Racer

For fans of enduro racing, there has been a lot of depressing news. Many race teams are shutting down as an industry downturn is slashing marketing budgets.

Thankfully it is not all bad news. Privateer Bikes logged on to Instagram today to tease a new rider joining their team. See the post below.

Though the rider's face is not clear, it appears that Privateer is bringing on a male enduro racer.

Privateer is a British brand aimed at making affordable frames for self-sufficient racers without the benefit of sponsorship, known in the bike world as Privateers.

Privateer aims to keep prices affordable with cost-effective aluminum and service easy with durable large bearings and external cable routing. When they initially launched, Privateer burst onto the scene with a competitive build for under 3000 pounds, an incredible feat given the UK’s stance on free trade.

They have since expanded to the US market. Even today after Covid squeezed supply chains, a full GX Build has an MSRP of $4300.

In an industry full of extravagant blingy bikes, a sensibly priced build was popular for many riders who are happy forgoing frills to save money.

It is great to see them continue to invest in racing, even given the ultimate irony of a brand aimed at privateer racers sponsoring a team.
