Desperate Skier Makes The Most Out Of Warm And Wet Conditions

Ryder Bulfone, aka flowryder on Instagram, posted a concerning video to Instagram yesterday reflecting the state of the west coast snow conditions after the rain.

Bulfone hops around on pure dirt in the forest, putting a new meaning behind the term "rock skis" (or in this case, is it "dirt skis"?) He explains that these are just the "current conditions on the west coast 🙌"

Besides being a professional freeskier, Ryder is an avid mountain biker outside of his tree-skiing escapades, so he is no stranger to tight turns and calculated lines.

These particular turns involved absolutely zero snow. Face shots? Of mud, maybe, but no powder in sight.

Ryder's criticism comes after the tumultuous weather that struck America over the past week. Is the West Coast really doing worse than any other part of the U.S., though?

In the past week, Wilmot Mountain in Wisconsin, Waterville Valley Resort in New Hampshire, Jay Peak in Vermont, and Sugarloaf Mountain in Maine all paused operations due to the heavy wind and rain.

Perhaps the West Coast isn't giving us that much to complain about. Although it is warm and wet, some resorts out here are doing okay: Palisades got 10 inches over the last couple days, and there was a proper powder day today with fresh tracks to be had. (Or that's the lingering East Coast mentality in me!)

Whatever the case may be, we're stoked to see Ryder getting after it, snow or no snow.

We hope you get after it today, too.
