Two other Colorado cities — Aurora and Colorado Springs — made it onto the list, ranked No. 78 and No. 66 respectively.

The list looked at four metrics: Health care, food, fitness and green space to determine the rankings.

Some of the metrics looked at in each of the categories included the premature death rate for health care, the consumption of fruit and vegetables by residents in food, the share of adults who engage in physical activity in fitness and parkland access per capita for green space.

There are 325 parks in the city of Denver alone, serving approximately 713,000 people according to an estimate from the United States Census Bureau.

Throughout the 325 parks in Denver, there are 352 basketball hoops, 14 dog parks, 274 playgrounds, 30 senior recreation centers and 93 restrooms.

When it came to these four metrics, Denver ranked relatively high in each, coming in at No. 29 overall in health care, No. 11 in food, No. 19 in fitness and No. 16 in green space.

It also only used the city proper for the ranking, not the metro area as a whole. For Denver, this meant that only factors within the city limits were considered.

The data used by WalletHub came from various sources, including the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and the Centers for Disease Control.
