There is no denying that sports and sneakers are capable of bringing about positive change. Look no further than NASCAR driver Denny Hamlin, who wore a custom pair of Air Jordan 1 sneakers made by  Sal "Kickstradomis" Amezcua and designed by one special child.

Last month, FedEx Cares and Operation Warm hosted a special event at a Boys & Girls Club in Charlotte, North Carolina, where they custom-fit 150 children in need with new shoes. As part of the event that Hamlin personally attended, all the children were given the opportunity to design Hamlin’s shoes.

Hamlin identified his top three designs and then allowed fans across the country to cast their vote via Instagram for their personal favorite. The winning design is what Kickstradomis helped bring to life.

Hamlin received and then proudly wore a pair of custom purple and orange Air Jordan sneakers at the track pre-race on August 26th for NASCAR’s regular-season finale - the Coke Zero Sugar 400.

As part of the sweeping project, FedEx teamed up with nonprofit Operation Warm to ship more than 8,400 pairs of shoes to 28 schools across North America to help alleviate the financial burden for low-income families while inspiring confidence and encouraging outdoor play among the recipients.

The NASCAR regular season might be over, but the impact of this project championed by Hamlin will be felt for a very long time. Stay locked into Men's Journal Sneakers for all your footwear news.
