Denise Austin's Mother of the Bride To-Do Tips, Plus Sweet Throwback Photos With Daughter Katie

Fitness guru Denise Austin has been keeping folks in shape and active for decades — and now, her daughter Katie Austin is following in her mom's footsteps. The veteran fitness instructor, who rose to fame in the 80s, hasn't slowed down a bit, and on top of her busy day to day, she's got another thing to keep her going — wedding planning!

That's right! Her daughter and fellow fitness-enthusiast Katie is getting ready for her big day happening on May 4th, and with weddings comes tons of preparation.

Denise shared the news with friends and followers through her social media in April of 2023, saying, "OVERJOYED!!!!! My daughter @katieaustin just got ENGAGED to the love of her life!!! And we are SOOOO HAPPY!!!!! The most MAGICAL WEEKEND EVER!!!!! I am in AWE of your LOVE together!!!! Let the wedding planning begin!!!! Welcome to the family."

Denise Austin dishes on her mother-of-the-bride prep list

With the big day approaching, Denise recently shared a blog post to her site, titled Mother Of The Bride I Do's!, where she shared some tips and tricks for getting ready for that big day you're anticipating. She also shares her best tips and tricks for the big day in her newest magazine, Fit Over 50: Spring Training, on newsstands now!

"As some of you may know, my daughter Katie is getting married this spring - and we couldn't be prouder and more excited to gear up for the big day, which is why I created a Mother Of The Bride I Do's list!" she writes.

Denise continues, "Whether you have a reunion, wedding, graduation, birthday celebration or another big event coming up, use these I Do's to help you plan for the day, so you can have fun and enjoy the gathering!"

The post lays out her beauty, nutrition, wellness and fitness hacks to help her prepare for the big day ahead. And Denise isn't the only one who has some prepping to do!

Katie Austin gets candid

In a video on her YouTube channel, Katie Austin dished out the details on her relationship, wedding planning and her upcoming nuptials.

"To be fully honest with you guys, I never really pictured myself getting married, I've never pictured myself in a dress. I went to 17 weddings last year and by the end of it I'm like, 'I just want to elope. I'm so over weddings. I'm not going to be a really into it bride.'"

Katie continued, "But, let me tell you. When you find the right man or the right person, I think you're just going to get really excited. And I'm finally entering the really excited stage for this wedding."

Katie Austin and her fiancée Lane Armstrong met on The League, a dating app. He popped the question during a trip to Laguna Beach, California, telling her that his friend who they were meeting had a delayed flight. Before she knew it, she was walking into what she would soon realize was her proposal.

In a separate post to her Instagram, she said in the caption, "We feel so loved and celebrated. I cannot believe the amount of effort my FIANCÉ put into this weekend, planned all my favorite things to do in one weekend. From friends flying in, buying me different white fits, decorating the house- I couldn’t feel luckier. Probably won’t ever get over it. So overjoyed for this next chapter in our lives!!!!"

Denise's daughters have followed in her footsteps

Denise Austin and her daughter Katie Austin are a dynamic fitness duo, but Denise is proud to say that her other daughter, Kelly, exemplifies her wellness influence as well.

"I mean, it is just a dream come true," Denise told Woman's World in 2023. "I never dreamt honestly that my daughters would kind of follow me. My oldest is doing now kind of more meditations and sound bath and more recovery and wellness. And Katie is truly following in my fitness footsteps."
