Demi Moore has elevated the swan dress. Instead of the camp/iconic gown made famous by Björk, Moore opted for a strapless Balmain number covered in black and white beads that formed the image of a large bird with feathers (also beaded) bursting out from the side. It’s both stylish and slightly over-the-top, the perfect combination for the occasion: the premiere of FX’s Feud: Capote vs. The Swans.

Capote is Truman Capote, author of In Cold Blood and Breakfast at Tiffany’s, and the Swans are the sophisticated socialites of New York who inspired the writer’s last novel. Capote famously threw a glamorous black-and-white ball at the Plaza Hotel at the height of his celebrity, and the entire (extremely stacked) cast honored the cultural moment by wearing black-and-white to the premiere. But only Moore was brave enough to embody a Park Avenue “swan” by incorporating an actual bird motif into her look. In the Ryan Murphy–produced series, Moore plays Ann Woodward, who shot and killed her husband in 1955, possibly on purpose, depending on whom you asked.

On Instagram, Moore added another animal to her look: her tiny pup Pilaf. Little dogs have long been an It girl accessory, so of course she had to hold him for her pics.

He’s wearing a tiny black harness because Pilaf respects the theme.

This is also exactly how I pose for photos so it’s nice to see a star like Demi Moore goofin’ it up.

A slight disappointment that Pilaf didn’t make it to the red carpet, but such is life. Sadly, Pilaf’s dedicated Instagram account hasn’t been updated since 2022, but it’s good to see he’s still thriving.

Sorry—uh, back to the dress. Moore accessorized it with a black-and-white ring and matching earrings, a couple of silver bangles, and of course her ever-present red kabbalah string, which isn’t technically an accessory but is nonetheless part of the look.

Capote vs. The Swans premieres January 31, and we can’t wait to see the fashions!
