Demi Lovato and Taylor Swift Send Each Other Support on Instagram

Attention: there is zero bad blood between Demi Lovato and Taylor Swift — and we’ve got the IG receipts to prove it.

Whispers of a rumored feud has been ongoing for several years, dating all the way back to 2016 where the “Sorry Not Sorry” singer seemingly called out Taylor’s feminist efforts on more than one occasion. While all of that is likely water under the bridge by now, speculation of newfound drama was stirred up once again this summer when Demi defended music executive Scooter Braun after Taylor accused him of bullying her. Fans then doubled down on the idea of a rift between the two singers when Demi announced she was skipping the MTV VMAs (she later explained her decision was not to “throw shade” at anyone — but because she was busy filming her upcoming guest appearance on Will & Grace).

But it really seems as though there’s no hard feelings between the two singers; in fact, Demi loves Taylor’s new album just as much as any diehard Swiftie. In an Instagram story on Monday, September 2, Demi shared a screenshot while listening to Taylor’s song “Cruel Summer,” remarking that the track is “a jam.” (Facts.) She later added: “Life’s too short for women to not support other women…especially when they release great music. Great job @taylorswift.”

If that wasn’t enough to change minds, Taylor’s response is definitely the cherry on top. The “Lover” singer re-posted Demi’s IG story to her own, commenting: “This is so awesome and put the biggest smile on my face. Thank you @ddlovato.”

It’s clear that Taylor’s Lover era isn’t just about romantic love — but it’s also about letting bygones be bygones and mending old breaks. Earlier this summer, we saw Taylor and Katy put their “bad blood” behind them, bonding over a platter of cookies. Their newly rekindled friendship was solidified when Katy appeared in Taylor’s “You Need to Calm Down” music video; the two singers embraced while dressed as a hot dog and hamburger in an iconic moment that will definitely go down in celeb feud history.

Who knows? Maybe Taylor, Demi, and Katy will all collab together in the future, allowing their fandoms to merge and become the biggest supportive stan army of them all.
