Demi Lovato Will Return to Acting With a Role on “Will and Grace”

Demi Lovato recently teased her fans and followers with news of a "secret project," and we finally know what the multitalented Ms. Lovato is up to: she's making a return to acting! Demi shared the news in an Instagram post, and we can't help but notice that she's curled up on one very familiar couch in one very familiar New York apartment: the Will & Grace set. "Will & Grace & Demi," she wrote in the caption, making it Instagram official.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Demi will guest star in a few episodes of the rebooted Will & Grace's final season, and her episodes will air in 2020. She'll be playing a character named Jenny, who EW describes as "a guarded gal who comes into the life of Will (Eric McCormack) in an unexpected way." OK, we're sold. Is it 2020 yet?

Demi gave fans a hint at her whereabouts before sharing her big news; she didn't attend the MTV VMAs on Monday, August 26, and shared in her Instagram Story that she skipped them "for a REASON." Now we know just what she was up to.

Besides lending her voice to the movie Charming and voicing Smurfette in the animated Smurfs: The Last Village, Demi hasn't had a major acting role since she appeared in a few episodes of Glee in 2013 and 2014. As you may know, Demi actually got her start as an actor, appearing on Barney & Friends as a child and transitioning into the world of Disney a few years later, starring in Camp Rock and her own series, Sonny With a Chance. Back in May of last year, she told fans that she did plan to make a comeback, but this is the first major news from the star regarding acting roles. We're hopeful that Demi's Will & Grace role is just the beginning. We can't wait to see her back on our TV screens.
