Demi Lovato Fans Shared How the Singer Encourages Them

Demi has been hospitalized after an apparent overdose.

After celebrities and entertainers shared their social media support for Demi Lovato following her apparent overdose, fans of the singer have also joined in, starting the hashtag #HowDemiHasHelpedMe.

The support for Demi comes after TMZ reported that the singer was being treated at a Los Angeles hospital for a reported drug overdose that occurred on Tuesday, July 24. As of Tuesday evening, she was reportedly in "stable" condition. In a statement made by a representative of the family to The Hollywood Reporter, they confirmed that Demi was "awake and with her family who want to express thanks to everyone for the love, prayers and support."

Following the news, fans on Twitter created the social media movement as a way of thanking the singer for speaking out on her issues with sobriety and mental illness.

One fan shared why they admired the singer, tweeting, "Demi sharing her story has taught me that is okay to have mental illness and how she inspired us to go forward in life no matter. Another Twitter user even credited the singer with helping them through their battle with substance abuse, saying, "When I was at the worst part of my life and I just wanted to give up completely, Demi’s speeches and music and book just kept me going and helped me be able to finally ask for help. I just recently passed 5 years clean and I credit that partially to her."

Additionally, some on the social media platform have pointed out how Demi's songs have provided them with encouragement and support. "Her music has been there with me in waiting rooms before counselling, her music has been there for me in all my hospital stays," one person shared. Another follower of the singer shared how Demi's music had continually helped them through school, writing, "Demi was my only voice of reassurance during my doubt and anxiety while being bullied throughout High School, when ever I didn’t feel comfortable I would put my headphones in, turn @ddlovato on and tune out the world."

The series of tweets created by fans using the hashtag has inspired some on Twitter to realize how "strong" Demi's impact on listeners has been. "I read this trending hashtag and have goosebumps. Demi is strong and so are Lovatics," one follower noted. "Seeing this hashtag makes me incredibly proud to be part of such a supporting, caring, brave and strong fandom.
