Delta Will Soon Offer Free Wi-Fi on Flights – What to Know
Wi-Fi will be available starting on all domestic flights in February.

Checking your email, catching up on work, or streaming a show is about to get easier for passengers flying Delta.
On Thursday, the airline announced the launch of a new service, Delta Sync is described as an "all-new in-flight entertainment system…designed to offer more of what customers would find on their home smart TV," in a press release shared with Travel + Leisure.
The most noteworthy component of Delta Sync is the free Wi-Fi, which Delta will offer on most domestic mainline flights beginning as early as Feb. 1.
"At work, at home and everywhere in between, connectivity is essential to daily life, and your journey on Delta should be no different," Delta CEO Ed Bastian said recently at the 2023 Consumer Electronics Show, the annual trade show organized by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA). "Our vision has long been to deliver an experience at 30,000 feet that feels close to what our customers have available on the ground."
The airline is working with Viasat and T-Mobile to offer the service. Wi-Fi will be available on more than 700 aircraft by the end of 2023, and international and regional aircraft will get free Wi-Fi by the end of 2024. However, passengers will need to be members of or join the airline's loyalty program, Delta SkyMiles, to connect.
In addition to Wi-Fi, starting this summer, SkyMiles members will also have access to early versions of Delta Sync platform, which promises a variety of entertainment options. Passengers will be able to stream shows from Paramount+, read restaurant and travel guides by Resy and Atlas Obscura, play games from the New York Times, and more. Also, passengers can expect food and beverage ordering in First Class and real-time seatback flight notifications.
Delta first announced in 2019 its intention to make free onboard Wi-Fi available. According to the airline's website, Wi-Fi is currently available for a fee on some flights. Additionally, Delta has offered free in-flight messaging on mobile devices since 2017, allowing guests to communicate via iMessage, WhatsApp, and Facebook Messengers.
