Dell'Osso Family Farm will kick off opening weekend Saturday morning for U-Pick Cherries

"Cherries on the Farm" returns to the Dell'Osso Family Farm in Lathrop this weekend.

The season-opening weekend for U-Pick Cherries begins at 8 a.m. on Saturday, May 18, and will go through Sunday, May 19 at 2 p.m. at the Dell'Osso Family Farm at 501 S. Manthey Rd. in Lathrop.

"We grow the delicious Coral, Bing, Brooks and Tulare cherries in our orchard," the Dell'Osso Family Farm website states.

U-pick cherries are $4 a pound. Buckets will be provided at the farm for picking and no reservations are required to participate, their website states.

Not only will there be fresh cherries to pick at the Dell'Osso Family Farm but there will also be "mouth-watering cherry donuts, cherry pie, cherry cookies, cherry jams, and jellies," for sale according to their Facebook page.

The farm will also be open on the following dates:

  • 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, May 24

  • 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 25

  • 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, May 26

  • 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, May 27

"There is no entrance fee to enter the orchard and parking is free!" Dell'Osso Family Farm states on their Facebook page.

According to their website, some general rules to keep in mind when participating in U-pick are:

  • Do not enter closed areas

  • No ice chests, coolers, or backpacks

  • Wear comfortable shoes (orchard ground could be uneven)

  • Do not climb trees or pull down branches

  • Children must stay accompanied at all times

  • Children under 18 years old are not permitted to climb ladders

  • No drugs, alcohol, or smoking on the orchard grounds

  • Must sign waiver

The waiver can be found online at cherriesonthefarm.com.

"Dell'Osso Family Farm attractions are closed during U-Pick Cherries season," the Dell'Osso Family Farm website states.
