Dell has revealed a new trio of curved gaming monitors, which it says aim to deliver high performance specs with “affordable pricing.” The three new Dell Curved Gaming Monitors, as well as a fourth flat panel, are set for release in May and June.

For its curved displays, Dell opted for VA-type panels, rather than the IPS tech that has risen to dominance among gaming displays in recent years. And while Dell isn’t ready to specify pricing at this time, it has told Slickdeals that it opted to employ VA tech to help make the new curved panels more affordable.

“VA monitors are generally priced at a more budget-friendly price point” when compared with their IPS equivalents, the company told Slickdeals at a recent press briefing.

“We packed performance features like fast response time (2ms Gray to Gray) and good contrast ratio (3000:1) that provides deeper blacks & brighter whites together with affordable pricing in the new VA monitors,” it added.

The Need For Speed

The hero of the curved range is a huge 34-inch ultra-wide panel, which packs a 3440×1440 resolution stretch around an 1800R curve. Its 144Hz refresh rate is kept in check by AMD FreeSync Premium for smooth frame synchronization with your PC.

Image quality also sounds promising, with a 90% DCI-P3 color average and VESA DisplayHDR 400 support. This panel will launch in the U.S. on May 27th.

Two smaller curved models, 32- and 27-inch variants, will follow on June 20th, sporting 165Hz panels and AMD FreeSync (but no HDR support).

Meanwhile, the flat Dell 25 Gaming Monitor, will be the fastest of the bunch, with an IPS panel running at 240Hz and a 1ms GtG response time. It will play nice with Nvidia G-Sync and AMD FreeSync systems, and arrives alongside the 34-inch panel on May 27th.

Of particular note to Xbox and PS5 owners is the promised support for console VRR (variable refresh rate) in all four models, making these displays a viable option as dedicated gaming screens for console gamers (once Sony adds support for VRR to the PS5, that is).

Dell says it will confirm pricing “closer to availability.” These panels were revealed alongside new AMD Ryzen-powered versions of Dell’s G5 and Alienware m15 gaming laptops.
