Sure, the intricate ensembles displayed on each episode of The Masked Singer are absolutely stunning. But the outfits aren't just for our viewing pleasure-they also contain clues to who the famous faces are behind the detailed disguises.

Designer Marina Toybina confirmed as much in an interview with Entertainment Tonight. Though she came up with 20 ideas for the series originally, they narrowed them down to the 12 costumes who best fit the secret celebs.

"We were kind of choosing the costumes that were appropriate for the casting," said Toybina, who's worked with country queen Carrie Underwood (who happens to be a front-runner for the Lion, by the way). "Some of the celebrities had a choice as far as who they wanted to be or who they related to."

But the identities of the singers weren't the only thing that inspired Toybina's costumes, which somehow only took two months to make. For example, "The Rabbit was very much influenced by a combination of Donnie Darko and Edward Scissorhands," she explained. "The Poodle was influenced by the Beverly Hills dog; like everybody has their little dogs, and they die their fur different colors to make it look fun."

All 12 getups are gorgeous, of course, which makes it difficult for Toybina to choose her favorite. "I put so much work into each and every one, so it's kind of hard to choose which one's the best," she admitted, though she added that the Lion was "one of the most different" creations.

"Since that one took the longest, it was kind of like my little baby, overseeing the project and making sure everything was done perfectly," she said. "I'd probably say it's a tie between the Lion and the Monster for me."
