Warning: Bridgerton season one spoilers ahead.
This weekend was a Bridgerton fan's dream. Not only did Regé-Jean Page host Saturday Night Live and deliver his iconic "I burn for you" line, but Nicola Coughlan aka Penelope Featherington just revealed a major easter egg from the first episode of the series that everyone seemingly missed.
On Saturday, Nicola tweeted out, "Ok I’m just curious, has anyone spotted the massive Easter Egg about Penelope in the very first scene of Bridgerton?"

Many guessed the easter eggs that we've already picked up on, like the bee, which we now know shows up in the final scene to represent Sir Edmund Bridgerton, the patriarch of the Bridgeton family, who died from a bee sting. Finally, though, one fan guessed that the easter egg Nicola is referring to is the large quill she is holding when the Featheringtons are initially introduced.
Ding Ding Ding!!

Nicola explained that she chose a prop for the scene and it "happened to be a giant feather that looked a lot like...a quill."
I’m very impressed with those that spotted it!
I decided on a prop for the scene where you first see Penelope, that prop happened to be a giant feather that looked a lot like...a quill 🪶 https://t.co/i6VDHGe5va— Nicola Coughlan (@nicolacoughlan) February 20, 2021
Those who have watched the series know that in the end, it turns out that Penelope is Lady Whistledown, the anonymous writer who reports on the London social scene throughout the show. So, the feather, which looks like a quill, is a sign that Penelope is the writer all along.
Many have also pointed out that Penelope's nickname is Pen, which of course, also relates to writing, and her last name connects back to the feather/quill theory. So basically, we should have known she was Lady Whistledown all along.
Nicola also hinted that "there are lots of little hints" throughout the series that people have yet to pick up on and she said she would confirm/deny them if viewers spot more. So, if you need me, I'll be prepping for season two of Bridgerton by rewatching season one, this time with a magnifying glass, in order to try and pick up on all of the other easter eggs in the show.
