Deer Valley Anticipating Bike Park Delays Due To Feet Of Snow Still Covering Trails

Deer Valley Resort, Utah received more snow this season than any in recorded history. A whopping 606 inches (50.5 feet) of snow fell from November to April.

Skiers had an all-time season at Deer Valley, but mountain bikers might need to hit the brakes on summer. Check out the photos below of Deer Valley employees working to dig out the bike trails from feet of snow still laying on the mountain:

Caption (shortened): "The mountain operations team has been busy digging out the bike trails on higher elevations. These photos were taken this past weekend at the beginning of Tidal Wave and Holy Roller.

All the hiking and biking trails on Bald Eagle (Lower Mountain), including the top portion of our newest biking trail Ripple, will be open this Friday, June 23."

Yeah! That's a lot of snow for the middle of June.

The photos above were taken at the beginning of the 'Tidal Wave' and 'Holy Roller' trails which start near the top of Bald Mountain- at 9,400 feet of elevation.

Based on the details in the caption, it sounds like Deer Valley's lower elevation bike trails should be good to go on opening day- Friday, June 23rd.

Here's hoping the hardworking bike crew is able to open those upper trails soon. On that note, wouldn't it be cool if they were able to clear a safe path through those snow walls?

It's not everyday you get to ride a mountain bike flanked by towering walls of snow from a record year.
