Deckhand bloody after collision with steel hook on 'Deadliest Catch'

On Deadliest Catch, greenhorn Taylor Jensen took a 30-pound steel hook to his head. Jensen never saw it coming when a fellow deckhand on the Cornelia Marie accidentally smacked him with the hook.

After being stuck on the top of the head, Jensen took about 10 seconds to gather himself and then returned to the task of sorting the crab. But he soon realized that blood was trickling down his face.

Captain Casey McManus, who is also a certified EMT, examined Jensen’s head. The gash appeared minor, and Jensen showed no signs of concussion.

After getting a clean bill of health, Jensen returned to work. Captain Josh Harris praised the greenhorn, saying, “That kid is phenomenal, a phenomenal worker. He’s a good guy.”

Deadliest Catch airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. on Discovery.
