Deals in the DMV for National Bubble Tea Day

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — Boba lovers, rejoice! Tuesday is National Bubble Tea Day — and some stores in the DMV have deals to celebrate.

What is National Bubble Tea Day? It falls on April 30 every year — and the chain Sharetea said that it is a day to celebrate the drink, which originated in Taiwan in the 1980s.

“National Bubble Tea Day serves as a reminder of the cultural impact and widespread adoration for this iconic drink,” Sharetea said.

The drink has gained popularity across the U.S. and the rest of the world since its creation. Bubble tea typically features tea, milk and signature tapioca pearls — or boba — but you can opt for a fruity drink or different toppings as well.

Will you have a three-payday May?

Some chains with locations in the DMV offered gifts and deals for the day.

Gong Cha announced a free bubble tea pin for customers who drop by participating stores on Tuesday. If you want it, you better go fast — the pins will only be around while supplies last.

The chain Kung Fu Tea also celebrated its birthday on Tuesday — and with that came some offers. From April 15 to April 30, it offered a free “Boba Bag” for anyone who gets two drinks from its Princess Peach’s Tea Party line. Also on April 30, you could get $6 in app credit if you make a purchase on the store’s app.

In Anne Arundel County, Tai Chi Bubble Tea is holding a gift card raffle — from April 27 to April 30, you can spend $15 to enter the raffle. First prize will take home a $300 gift card to the store — second place gets a $150 gift card, and third place gets a $100 gift card.
