Deadpool and Wolverine Early Reactions to “Hilarious” First Footage

Marvel’s biggest film of 2024 is living up to the hype.

Audiences at CinemaCon were treated to nine minutes of footage from Deadpool & Wolverine, and it looks like a riot.

It begins with Deadpool, AKA Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds) living a new life as a car salesman. He’s with former X-Force team member Peter (Rob Delaney), who we last saw in Deadpool 2.

Peter takes Wade back to his apartment for a surprise party to celebrate Wade’s birthday. As we saw in the last trailer, loads of X-Men are there: Colossus, Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Yukio, and Shatterstar. There are also a few non-X-Men, like Dopinder, his landlord Blind Al, and Wade’s ex-girlfriend Vanessa. Everyone is here, even…wait, is that Doctor Doom in the Deadpool and Wolverine trailer?

Just as Wade goes to blow out the candles on his cake, TVA agents burst from the door to apprehend him. If you’ve not been keeping up with various Marvel series on Disney+, the TVA (Time Variance Authority) is a bureaucratic organization located outside space and time. It aims to prevent splintering timelines by preserving the sacred timeline.

In the next scene set at the TVA headquarters, Wade meets Mr. Paradox (Matthew Macfadyen), a TVA operative who offers Wade a mission: do “some avenging” for the sacred timeline.

He also gets a suit upgrade, complete with a pair of adamantium swords. After he’s done suiting up, he runs over to the camera and hits his head on the lens before grabbing a mic and saying, “Suck it Fox, I’m going to Disneyland.”

The sneak peak of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine was saved for the end. We see him, fully kitted up in his yellow and blue costume, driving down a road with Deadpool. Deadpool makes fun of Wolverine’s new look, asking if the X-Men force him to wear the outfit, and questioning why it has the colors of the LA Rams football team.
