Dawson’s Creek Star Michelle Williams Is Engaged to ‘Hamilton’ Director Thomas Kail
Michelle Williams is getting married. The Dawson’s Creek actress is engaged to Hamilton director Thomas Kail, People reported Monday, December 30.
That’s not all: the pair is expecting their first child together, the same insider revealed. The couple was photographed shopping at a baby boutique in London’s Kensington neighborhood.
Williams’s 14-year-old daughter Matilda (whom she shares with the late Heath Ledger) reportedly was the mastermind behind the relationship. However, Kail and Williams had a professional relationship. The couple worked together on the set of Fosse/Verdon, which landed the actress an Emmy for Outstanding Lead in a Limited Series. Kail directed the biographical series.

Williams, who was previously married to musician Phil Everum, has long remained rather private about her love life. She briefly touched on the topic in an interview with Vanity Fair while she was still with Elverum. “Don’t settle. Don’t settle for something that feels like a prison or is hard, or hurts you,” she said at the time. “If it doesn’t feel like love, it’s not love.”
Their marriage was short-lived and ended in early 2019. Shortly after, Williams and Kail were an item. This is the second marriage for both Williams and Tony Award winner Kail, who was previously with Angela Christian.
