If you are chronically online, you may have seen a post on X, formerly Twitter, circulating this week that compared Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift to David and Victoria Beckham. "Now I understand how people must've felt in the 90s when David Beckham got together with Victoria," the post, penned by an account called Swiftie Struggle Tweets, reads.

As you might be able to imagine, it was an extremely hot take. The post has over 10 million views, and plenty of responses are from the Poshes and Becks of the world, who are telling the Swifties, in so many words, that they're so wrong.

The thing about David and Victoria Beckham is that their relationship transcends pop culture, because it was, and still is, a worldwide phenomenon. 1997: David and Victoria Beckham first meet.

David and Victoria were already both mega famous in their own right before they met in 1997. David had amassed unprecedented popularity for his pro football (soccer, but he's from England) career. In fact, he signed with Manchester United at just 14 years old. While Victoria was best known by her nickname "Posh Spice," and was a member of the Spice Girls.

Like every other person with a pulse in the 90s, David had his eyes on the iconic British girl group, and Victoria was his favorite.

"I remember turning around—before I'd even met Victoria—and said, 'I want to marry that one,'" he later said on the Ellen Degeneres Show in 2008.

On the day of their meet-cute, Victoria attended a Manchester United game, where David was playing at the time. The soccer player didn't get to chat with Victoria initially, but she came to another match a week later, and David shot his shot.

"She had a couple of drinks, so I decided why not try and get her number?" the former athlete told Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show in 2020. "We talked for about an hour in the players' lounge, and she wrote her number down on a train ticket—which I still have."

The couple have never divulged the details of their first date, but it seems to have occurred sometime shortly after they met. In 2014, Victoria did however share her first date outfit on X. It was a short orange dress with a matching belt. Cute!

In an essay for British Vogue in 2016, Victoria said meeting David was "love at first sight."

1998: Victoria and David Beckham get engaged.

The whirlwind romance hit a new peak in late January 1998, when the couple announced their engagement. While they were only dating for a short time, they announced their engagement would last over a year—as they were set to get married in the summer of 1999.

1998: The couple announce they are pregnant with their first child.

In the Netflix documentary, Victoria revealed she told David she was pregnant with the couples' oldest son, Brooklyn, the night before the 16th round of World Cup, on June 29, 1998.

“He was so so happy, we both were. There was never any doubt in my mind I shouldn’t tell him, it was what we wanted. He could not have been happier," she said in the doc.

Brooklyn Beckham was born on March 4, 1999. Victoria later stated that the couple came up with their son's name in Spain in her autobiography Learning to Fly, and it was not based on where he was conceived.

"I had always liked the name Brooke and then we suddenly thought about Brooklyn," she wrote, per PEOPLE. "I'd always liked it as a place — it's very multi-cultural, very grounded. And it was only afterwards that I realized how appropriate it was because it was in New York that I found out I was pregnant."

July 4, 1999: Victoria and David Beckham get married

The couple officially tied the knot in July 1999. Their guests included Elton John, George Michael—and, of course, the Spice Girls and David's teammates, per PEOPLE.

Brooklyn, who would've only been three months old, reportedly acted as the ring bearer. In an anniversary post from 2016, Victoria commemorated the special day, calling David "the best husband and daddy in the world!! EVER!"

The couple also notoriously changed into matching purple ensembles for their reception (and Brooklyn was also decked out in the same color), according to BRIDES. In 2014, Victoria shared a snap of the pair cutting the cake in their matching sets.

2001-2004: Several women accuse David Beckham of having an affair.

In the Beckham documentary, David opens up about the rumors that he had several affairs in the early aughts (David has always denied these claims). In 2004, Rebecca Loos claimed she had a four-month affair with the soccer star. Later, two more women—Celina Laurie and Sarah Marbeck—claimed to have affairs with David between 2001 and 2002, per Marie Claire.

While the alleged affairs were all over media at the time, David and Victoria denied all of them, and continue to stand by those statements to this day. "I don’t know how we got through it, in all honesty," David said of the allegations in the Beckham documentary.

2002: Victoria gives birth to their second child, Romeo James Beckham.

A few years after their wedding, the Beckhams welcomed their second child, Romeo, on September 1, 2002, via a C-section. Their second son currently plays soccer for Brentford B.

2003: The Beckham family moves to Spain.

David Beckham signed a four-year contract with Real Madrid in 2003. The entire family would move to Spain, and stay there for several years.

2005: Cruz Beckham is born.

In 2004, the couple announced they were pregnant with their third child. Cruz David was born on February 20, 2005 in Madrid. "He is beautiful. He is in there with his brothers now and he is very happy," David told reporters, per PEOPLE.

2007: The Beckhams move to Los Angeles.

After his contract with Real Madrid was up, David signed with the L.A. Galaxy, and moved the family to Los Angeles.

July 2011: Harper Seven Beckham is born.

In January 2011, the couple revealed they were pregnant with their fourth child. Six months later, Harper Seven Beckham was born on July 10, 2011. The couple had spoken publicly about expanding their family prior to having Harper.

In 2008, David said he and Victoria were planning to have more children on The Ellen Degeneres Show. "We're very family orientated," he said. "We've always wanted a big family."

2013: Victoria and David move the family to London.

In 2013, David Beckham signed with Paris Saint-Germain, and moved the family to London. While the soccer player's time on the team was short (he retired later that year), the family would move their permanent residence to London.

2017: Victoria and David renew their vows.

David shared in an interview that he and Victoria renewed their wedding vows this year, per PEOPLE, but it was a lot more humble than their blowout wedding. "It was a lot more private, about six people there in our house."

The vow renewal also seemed to squash speculation that the pair were still together for "branding" purposes. "We stay together because we love each other, because we have four amazing children," he said, per PEOPLE. "Do you go through tough times? Of course. That's part of relationships. It's part of marriages."

Later, in 2018, Victoria doubled down on how stable their relationship was going amid divorce rumors.

"People have been making things up about our relationship for 20 years, so David and I are pretty used to ignoring the nonsense and just carrying on as normal," she told British Vogue. "But these things have a wider effect on the people around us, and that's unfair."

July 2019: Victoria and David Beckham celebrate 20 years together.

In July 2019, the iconic celeb couple celebrated 20 years together. Victoria commemorated the occasion with an adorable Instagram slide show. "I love you so much," she wrote.

April 2022: Brooklyn Beckham gets married.

A little under 23 years after they said "I do," David and Victoria's oldest son, Brooklyn tied the knot on April 9, 2022, to his girlfriend of two years, Nicola Peltz. "Proud mum and dad," Victoria wrote in an Instagram post.

July 2022: Victoria responds to the haters in her anniversary Instagram post.

Continuing with tradition, Victoria shared another post for the couple's 23rd anniversary in July 2022. This time, she quipped back at all the criticism the couple has faced throughout their relationship.

"They say he isn’t funny, they say I never smile, they said it wouldn’t last 😂 Today we celebrate 23 years being married. David you are my everything, I love you so much!!!! 💕," she wrote in her post. Aww.

September 2023: David Beckham unveils new tattoo for Victoria.

Throughout their relationship, both Victoria and David have gotten tattoos in honor of each other. Most recently, David unveiled "Posh," Victoria's Spice Girls name, on his left hand in September. He even shared some pics of his session on IG.

At one point, Victoria had David's initials on her wrist, but she later got them removed, simply because they were fading. "I think that the media started to speculate, was I leaving my husband?" the star told Hoda Kotb in 2022. "No, I was just a bit sick of the tattoo. It's as simple as that."

October 2023: The Beckham family attends the Beckham premiere.
