David Sandusky’s Smoke & Kettle opens full time this week in O’Fallon, later near Freeburg

Since debuting at O’Fallon’s KC Club & Event Center in February, David Sandusky’s newest concept, Smoke & Kettle, officially opens full time this week.

The new brand featuring “fish & chicken-forward dishes, with some BBQ on the menu for good measure,” will be available starting Wednesday, May 22, at 5420 Old Collinsville Road, according to a press release.

Smoke & Kettle will also be available at a second location starting in June.

Starting Friday, June 7, the same fare can be found at Catholic War Veterans, 3535 S. Route 159, Freeburg, between Belleville and Smithton.

Sandusky feels that opening restaurants in established taverns provides access to built-in customers, banquet space and more freedom to experiment, according to the release.

“This restaurant concept is designed to be fun & simple,” Sandusky stated in the release. “Great, approachable bar food with personality. I want to take this opportunity to connect with the locals in a new way, and make some new friends.”

Menu items include:

  • Sharables: pig skins, cornbreaded oysters, jumbo smoked wings, onion rings;

  • Sandwiches: The Chicken, The Oyster Po’ Boy, The Pulled Pork, The Pork Tenderloin, The Burger;

  • Fish & Chips: cod, jumbo shrimp, cornbreaded oysters, cod & shrimp combo;

  • Chicken: two-, three- and four-piece Tendies

  • BBQ: pulled pork, rib tips;

  • Plus sides, sweets and loaded fries.

Daily specials will be released at a later date.

Smoke & Kettle is located at KC Club & Event Center, 5420 Old Collinsville Road, O’Fallon, and Catholic War Veterans, 3535 S. Route 159, Freeburg.

Regular hours for both locations will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday-Sunday.
