David Eason from “Teen Mom” Fired by MTV After Alleged Homophobic Tweets

“David Eason’s personal comments do not reflect the views of MTV.”

MTV has announced the firing of one of its Teen Mom 2 cast members for alleged homophobic remarks he made on Twitter. David Eason, who is married to Teen Mom 2's Jenelle Evans, will no longer remain on the show.

E! News reports the incident began after a follower began a coversation with David regarding schools and firearms. The user suggested that David "limit exposure of unnecessary weaponry around the house (stop glorifying assault rifles) teach your children to be aware of their surroundings at school." David's Twitter has since been removed from the platform, but one user made screengrabs of the exchange that ensued.

According to the screenshots, David responded to the user writing, "And just what makes you think you have the right to tell me how to be a parent? Because you think you know me? LMAO why don't you go tell the homo and transgender parents to start teaching their kids better morals Oh I forgot, that's supposed to be normal."

Another follower then reportedly responded to David's initial homophobic remarks saying: "Who are you to say what's normal or what's moral? Are you going to teach your children to hate gay and transgender people?" He replied, "No, I'm going to teach them not to associate with them or be that way…if you lay down with dogs you get up with fleas."

In the aftermath of his tweets, social media and fellow Teen Mom 2 cast member Kaitlyn Evans called for MTV to take action regarding David's comments.

Before the firing was announced on Tuesday, February 20, Jenelle attempted to defend her husband. She told TMZ that "David doesn't hate people from the LGBT community. My old manager was gay and used to be one of me and Davids close friends." She also pointed out how the couple had attended a birthday party in honor of a fellow Teen Mom 2 cast member and there was "a lot of LGBT people there and he didn't act in any type of way."

Despite the explanation offered by Jenelle, MTV has decided to no longer work with David. The network announced the firing in a statement on their Twitter Tuesday night (February 20) writing, "David Eason’s personal comments do not reflect the views of MTV. With six weeks left of production on ‘Teen Mom 2,’ effective immediately, we are ending our relationship with him."
