David Beckham Named Ambassadorial President of the British Fashion Council
Expect to see David Beckham at more fashion events in 2018.

David Beckham has a new role in the fashion world. The soccer player and founder of Kent & Curwen has joined the British Fashion Council in the newly created role of ambassadorial president. In the position, Beckham will be tasked with representing British fashion at home and abroad, helping to create new relationships in the United States and Asia. He will also support the BFC’s education missions, from scholarships to arts education.

“Taking on this new role is an incredibly proud moment for me. I have long been passionate about British style, fashion, and craftsmanship, and this role gives me the chance to get under the skin of an industry I love,” said Beckham in a release. “I am excited to be working closely with the British Fashion Council to promote and inspire young talent, from across the U.K., on a global scale. The fashion industry is one of our best preforming global exports and I am looking forward to working with our future leaders and supporting the BFC in their global ambitions.”

Beckham is the latest appointment in a string of changes at the BFC. Earlier this week, Farfetch chief strategy officer Stephanie Phair was named chairman, and is expected to hold the position for a three-year tenure.
